OUR MISSION:
St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.
We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.
FROM THE DESK OF MRS. TIEZZI
Dear SRS Parents,

Thank you all the support you have shown me and my family over the past few weeks. I deeply appreciate your kind expressions of sympathy during my mother’s illness and subsequent passing. I am more appreciative to our teachers and staff, along with Sr. Anne and Mrs. Testa, for carrying on when I was out. Thank you to the H.S.A. for the delicious Editable Arrangement which was sent to my family on behalf of the St. Rita community and also for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
Thus far we have had 5 days off due to inclement weather and tomorrow does not look to be too promising according to the newscasters. Our first snow make-up day will be Monday, April 2 (Easter Monday). The remaining days will mostly likely be made up in June. Notification as to the exact plan will be determined once winter is over. Please understand that St. Rita School follows the recommendation of the Hamden Public Schools on all matters regarding closing or delays due to the weather. The Superintendent of Hamden in conjunction with the local police, public works department and Bus Company make the determination as to our status.  As we receive bus and nursing services through the town, we are required to follow their weather related decisions. Once a decision is made St. Rita families are notified via email or on the various local news stations.  Join me in praying that the forecasters are incorrect about tomorrow and that Spring arrives early!!

Our students will be attending Mass and receiving Ashes on Ash Wednesday, February 14 at 9:00 A.M. in the church. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the liturgical season of Lent and this year Lent begins on Valentine’s Day. There will be no parties in school on Wednesday, February 14. Your child’s teacher will let you know if and when their class will be celebrating Valentine’s Day.

On Thursday, February 15 the students and parents will be hearing a presentation on Internet Safety Concepts from Scott Driscoll, former police and youth officer. A separate presentation for parents will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 15 in the school gym. All St. Rita parents are invited to attend and feel free to bring a friend.

Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care. Have a terrific week and think Spring!

God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi

We have begun to see cases of the Flu here at St. Rita’s School. Please encourage your children to wash their hands with soap and water and to cover their nose and mouth when coughing and/or sneezing.
When calling your child out sick from school please let us know if they have a “doctors confirmed” case of the flu.
Please use the following guidelines before sending your child back to school if they have been diagnosed with the flu:
-No Fever for 24 hours without taking medication( Tylenol or Advil)
-No vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours.
-They look and feel better with a healthy appetite and restful sleep.

Please read the following link for more Flu information.

Please do not send your child back to school until they are feeling better. We are seeing some pediatricians suggesting a week home to recover from the flu. Please follow your pediatricians recommendations before sending your child back to school.
