K of C Free Throw Contest Results

The Knights of Columbus free throw event held at St. Brigid of Kildare gym on Sunday, January 28th was a great success!   It began with a "just for fun" scrimmage game between fellow Knights versus the coaches of St. Brigid of Kildare basketball teams.   It was a close game with the Knight's winning by 3 points (20 to 17).  Following this game was the free throw event.   In total, 35 participants, ages 9 through 14, girls and boys, made it to the line to attempt 15 free throws.   The winners in each age and gender category go on to the Knights of Columbus District event, held on Sunday, February 11, at St. Peters Catholic Church on Smoky Row Road in Columbus - registration begins at 12:30 pm.  The participants advancing to the Districts include:  Clare Feehan (age 11), Kate Straka (age 12), Natalie Soleil Geoffrion (age 14), Will Urbancic (age 9), Dominic DiGiorgio (age 10), Connor Samenuk (age 11), Ryan Huttsell (age 12), and Bobby McMillen (age 13).  We wish them well!

The Knights of Columbus would like to thank all the participants, including the families and friends who attended!   It was a wonderful event.

EPIC News

January Meeting:
On January 21, our EPIC youth group hosted the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio's (DSACO) school-aged social group. Our EPIC kids were big buddies to the kids with Downs Syndrome, and led each of the fun stations that they visited, including games, an obstacle course, a dance station, and a sensory station. Everyone had so much fun and our middle schoolers were able to learn more about Down Syndrome and really did a great job entertaining and engaging the younger kids.
Because we have so many kids in EPIC, we were also able to clean all of the pews in the church and prepare some First Communion projects for Religious Education as well. Hats off to our awesome EPIC kids!

February Meeting:
This month we will bring items donated from the Ash Wednesday food collection to the Dublin Food Pantry on February 25. Please consider donating food on Ash Wednesday, or the weekends of the 17th/18th and 24th/25th after all masses in Hendrick's Hall. We will bring about 100 kids to weigh, sort and box the food, so it will take a large collection to keep them all working. This will be a good introduction for our youth of what the Dublin Food Pantry does and how they can be involved and serve their neighbor through this organization in the future. Please RSVP to Kim if your child plans to attend.

EPIC Registration:
If you have a child interested in joining EPIC, don't worry, it is never too late to join! EPIC is for all 7th and 8th graders of the parish. Simply go to the parish website at stbrigidofkildare.org, and select "Youth" and "Middle School Youth Group" from the drop down menu. Then fill out the online registration form at the bottom of the page under "links." There is no fee to participate. If you have questions, contact Kim VanHuffel at [email protected] .
