Heather McDaniel Named New IDA Administrator
Industrial Development Agency

The Tompkins County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) unanimously appointed Heather McDaniel as the Administrative Director. 

The IDA is one of the primary  tools available  locally to support business growth. She will be responsible for the administration of the IDA and management of projects. 

In 2015, the IDA delivered a variety of incentives to seven projects that will add 380,817 square feet of new space, create 69 new jobs and leverage $161 million in private investment.

76 West Clean Energy Business Competition 
Now Accepting Proposals 

76 West, a $20 million business competition and business support program, is now accepting applications for innovative, clean energy businesses to locate or create jobs in New York's 11- county Southern Tier. 

New York's Souther Tier encompasses the following counties: Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Delaware, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga and Tompkins. 

Businesses can apply online, the deadline is March 15, 2016. Semi finalists will be selected in April and invited to a business "boot camp" to meet local judges. Selected finalists will be chosen in May to visit the region and learn more about specific opportunities. Six winners will be accounted in July.

Commercial Energy Workshop
Helping businesses and non-profits reach their energy saving goals

This 6-session series led by energy professionals from Taitem Engineering provides businesses and non-profits with a comprehensive energy audit and building analysis, along with relevant information and support to help them significantly reduce their energy bills and carbon emissions, and increase the comfort and safety of their building. Solar and other renewables, and PACE financing are covered. 

The workshop is free, though a fully-refundable $150 deposit is required, and the audits are free to organizations with 10 or fewer employees. 

The first session will be held on Thursday, March 24th from 2:30-4pm at the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce, 904 E Shore Drive, Ithaca.

State of the State Presentation 
Richard Tobe, Director of Upstate Revitalization 

Richard Tobe currently serves as Director of Upstate Revitalization in the administration of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. Mr. Tobe assumed this position in January 2015 at the commencement of Governor Cuomo's second term.
