A COQUINA ROCK
BEACH WALK

Join park volunteer, Jim Gleason, on this unique beach walk. Participants will enjoy having the opportunity to explore the second largest outcropping of Coquina rock on the Atlantic Coast. 

Participants will also gain a better understanding of the beach ecosystem as a whole, including birds, shells, and plants that are found along the way. Join us for this up close encounter with coquina rock and its' inhabitants! 
 
  Program included with park entry. Participants will meet at the beach side parking lot and are encouraged to wear comfortable hiking shoes suitable for rough terrain. Call 386-446-6783 for more information. 


First Friday Garden Walk at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park 

Friday, February 5th 
10am  

 
J oin a ranger each First Friday of the month at 10am for a walk through our historical gardens.  Learn about the history of our park while exploring the beauty of the formal gardens. The walk is approximately 45 minutes. 
 

Please wear comfortable walking shoes! 

Meet in the Garden parking lot.

Astronomy Program

Saturday, February 6th, 6:30pm

Join Park Ranger Joe Woodbury to see the mysteries of the stars unfold before you.  Observe stars, planets, and satellites from Washington Oaks beachside.  Enjoy age old mythological tales regarding constellations and hear about new scientific discoveries. 

Bring your own binoculars for a better look, but no telescopes needed.  Program subject to cancellation if weather is unfavorable.

Second Saturday Plant Sale
February 13th, 10-2
 
Join us for our 2nd Saturday plant sale, featuring plant selections which are perfect as Valentine gifts for the home and garden!

 At 11:00am, a program on "Selecting, Planting, and Caring for Roses in the Florida Landscape" will be presented by park volunteers.  We will show you how to get started with low maintenance varieties of roses for your own garden. 

Plants for sale at the plant bench, Greenhouse, and fenced in area.

Sunday, February 28th 1-4

Join us for an afternoon of music on our beautiful stage at Washington Oaks. Our first concert of the year will feature local favorites the "Wild Shiners", with banjo, fiddle, flatpick guitar, upright bass, and drums. The original sound of Wild Shiners has been influenced by country blues, southern soul, bluegrass jazz, and outlaw country.  

Food and children's activities will also be available.  

Concert is included with park entry!

Yoga in the Gardens
Mondays in March, 9am-10:30am.
(March 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th)

Join us for this all-level, gentle yoga class incorporating meditation, breathing exercises, and gentle movement.  
Instructor Jillian Davis, E-RYT 200 LMT, has been teaching classes for 10 years.  Practicing yoga outside in the peaceful setting of Washington Oaks allows a connection to nature while discovering what yoga can do for you.

Washington Oaks Photo Adventures!


Wednesday, March 23rd 
8:30 am-1:00 pm 

Join Instructors Ed Siarkowicz and Lisa Fisher for this one of a kind photography course utilizing DSLR camera and/or Smartphone with Android or iphone operating system.  Both novice and professional students will be lead through a variety of settings and environments that will enhance their photographic skill sets.

 Showcasing the best attributes Washington Oaks has to offer, students will be given a theme or title to capture, and will receive personal attention and instruction on photographic technique, camera settings, and technical merits.  

$150 per student, includes park entry.
