February is CTE Month
Celebrate TODAY Own TOMORROW

CTE Month provides CTE programs across the country an opportunity to demonstrate how CTE makes students college and career ready and prepares them for high-wage, high-skill, and high-demand career fields. School districts are encouraged to promote CTE programs. Please share your stories on our ESC Region 12 CTE  facebook page.

What are the careers that are emerging and how can we prepare our students for this brave new world? Topics of discussion will include local labor market information, HB5 updates and opportunities
for partnerships between secondary, post-secondary and business.

Scheduled on March 2, 2017 from 9:00-Noon
CTE Perkins SSA, CTE Council Co-op and Counselor's Co-op attend at no charge.

AET Record Keeping System

Welcome to the Agricultural Experience Tracker, the personalized online system for tracking experiences in agricultural education. Learn how the AET tracks educational and financial experiences for students and ag programs. The AET summarizes those experiences into standard FFA award applications. Unlike previous systems, the AET aggregates those experiences across programs to produce local reports for school administrators and overall economic impact reports for interested stakeholders and legislative representatives. Teachers are free to bring their own technology device
and up to 3 students to participate.

Scheduled on March 6th from 9:00-4:00
CTE Perkins SSA, CTE Council Co-op and Counselor's Co-op attend at no charge.

C TE Virtual PLCs

One of the most effective vehicles for educators to lead change and innovation in the classroom are Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Virtual PLCs allow educators to connect with their counterparts across the region, creating a cadre of thoughtful educators who learn, reflect and capitalize on the wisdom of the group.

Many CTE teachers feel isolated on a campus, especially in smaller school districts, because they may be the only person that teaches a particular subject. A virtual PLC will allow an opportunity to find other teachers in the region that are teaching the same subjects or in the same career pathway. This vehicle will also be a way to provide up-to-date information on the new CTE TEKS that will be rolling out in 2017-2018. There are 26 courses that teachers can choose from. A PLC has also been created for CTE Counselors and Administrators.

The PLC Launch will began January 19, 2017. Teachers may begin posting questions, lesson plans, or best practices immediately.
