Granville's
ART WALK:
You're Invited!

by: Steve Matheny,
Executive Director,
Granville Area Chamber of Commerce

Hopefully you've begun to notice.... Over the last several months - on the first Saturday of each month - Granville has hosted an Art Walk event during which creative businesses and non-profits have joined forces to promote commerce and art in the Granville community.  Somewhat akin to the monthly Gallery Hop occurring in Columbus' Short North district, our version seeks to feature creative experiences and exposure for local arts in all of its various forms.

Launched initially in November 2016, Granville's Art Walk concept was a vision of several local artists and fervent art supporters.  Lori Clarke, owner of Art on Elm, and Jodi Melfi, partner in the Creative Co-op on N. Prospect Street were instrumental in getting the Art Walk started.  Paula Colman, Jeff Watkins, and Duane Winchester of the ART @ 43023 gallery were also strong advocates for the monthly event which coincides with their established practice of hosting a reception for their gallery's featured monthly artists on the first Saturday of each month.  The purpose and intent of the Art Walk also resonates with joint efforts underway by the Bryn Du Commission, the Granville Schools, and the Granville Arts Commission (collectively the Arts Collaborative of Granville) to encourage and promote the Granville community as an 'arts destination'.  Local businesses have also been eager to become involved as well - some of these participating venues have included Moe's Bar B Que, BLEND - Studio Spark, Day Y Noche, Three Tigers Brewing Co., Uberburger, and SteamRoller Bagel Sandwiches as well as the Bryn Du Art Center and the Granville Public Library.

Consider , too, that the growing interest and enthusiasm for this activity is occurring during the shortest and darkest days of winter!  It's exciting to think of how the popularity of this event will expand as Spring and Summer arrive.  The Granville Area Chamber of Commerce assumed the lead sponsorship role for this event in January.  The Granville Arts Commission is also a sponsoring organization and some funding has been provided to support musical performances at selected venues during early Art Walk events.  Clearly this is an idea whose time has come and we look forward to further expansion and wider participation in the months to come.  We hope that you will begin to make the Granville Art Walk part of your "Fun To-Do List" each month.

W eathervane Kettle corn is a family-owned and operated business located in Millersport, Ohio. Our equipment and processes have been personally engineered and constructed of high quality American made materials. It all began with the construction of the only solar powered Lemon Shake-up stand in Central Ohio.  We still sell Lemon Shakes, but found ourselves lonely when it became too chilly for that sweet treat, so it was suggested - since you built that, why not build a Kettle Corn popper and so we did! Weathervane provides catering for a variety of events.  Check out their website and book your popcorn experience today!
