Many of us in restaurant service have only perpetrated in one capacity. Some maybe more but Philip Marino has executed almost all.
Phil graduated from Binghamton High School in 1999. He participated in both football and wrestling. At his weight class of 145 he won JV STAC's. After a bountiful Italian meal at a friends where he gained ten pounds that 'he couldn't lose' he set a record for the quickest pin in 7 seconds at 155 pounds.
As do most young people in the restaurant business, Phil started as a busser. Over a six year span at Outback he elevated to cocktail server, bartender, and then server but migrated to the back of the house as a line cook. He left Outback and has worked several places, such as Sodexho at BU, Applebees as an assistant kitchen manager, and Burger Monday's as a server. Exposure and diversity cultivate knowledge but his dexterity always gravitated to the back of the house.
Before they retired, Phil's father was the superintendent of North East United Methodist and his mother a North high, East and West Middle School teacher. He has two older twin sisters, one is a teacher like their mother and the other a retail manager. Phil has two sons, Aiden and Carson, who are smart and sweet according to Phil.
Phil relishes in a game of poker/Texas Hold 'Em and has won some small tournaments. He is loyal to his Giants and claims "We will get them next year." Phil enjoys relaxing at home either reading, especially Game of Thrones or with a movie, his favorite is the the 1989 sci-fi, The Abyss
At Number 5 Phil actively assists in the early day preparations of all our made from scratch items and during service he works both in the back of the kitchen and in the front on the broiler. Overall, Phil is very dedicated and hardworking. With 20 years of experience he states he loves the craft of cooking. We are very proud to have him as a part of our team.
Valentine's Day is only a couple weeks away, make your reservations soon! We look forward to serving you the best in Binghamton.
