15 years & counting!

January was a busy month for Anglo American Oil Company Ltd, at the start of January we were at the ROAR before the Rolex 24 with our Sunoco Challenge winners preparing for the big 24 hour race weekend at the end of January, then we were at Autosport International with a bigger stand for 2014. We then went back out to Daytona at the end of the month to support our two Challenge winners in the Rolex 24 At Daytona and BMW Performance IMSA 200 races.

February is looking like it will be a busy month, with preparations for the up-coming race season in March, please get any orders to us ASAP - next day delivery available for orders placed before midday. We will also be soon distributing our new brochures available for 2014, with details of our products and information about the race series we support.

February offer -
Driven Racing Oil

Why choose Driven Racing Oil? Driven Racing Oil was born out of one of the most successful NASCAR teams in modern history, Joe Gibbs Racing, out of necessity as a result of increasing oil based issues. Something had to be done, and thanks to an extensive R&D programme with Lubrizol, market leaders in oil additive technology, the Joe Gibbs Racing team's engine builder could start pushing the engines further, whilst eliminating oil related issues and at the same time reducing viscosity from SAE20W-50 to SAE5W-20, thus releasing more power!

This R&D programme, however, was extremely laborious and expensive, and Joe Gibbs, in a typical American "Win on Sunday - Sell on Monday" attitude realised that if they could sell the oil, they could get an income which could be invested in further developments, hence today they have a market leading racing and high performance oil brand, the Driven Racing Oil, available to you!

Driven HR Range

Unlike the full blown no compromise Driven XP race oils the HR range is designed for high performance engines where longer intervals of oil changes, rust protection and lower price is appreciated. This oil has more than double the amount of ZDDP normally found in API SN oils, a detergent package for up to 6,000 miles between oil changes but also a storage additive that eliminates the corrosion issues caused by the ethanol in normal pump fuels. Available in both synthetic and mineral in SAE10W-30, SAE10W-40 and SAE15W-50. Good news is that the prices are very competitive!

Product focus -
HR 15W-50 synthetic oil; Excellent protection for supercharged, big block and looser clearance engines. Ideal for long stroke and/or high compression engines. Safe for 02 sensors and vehicles equipped with catalytic converters. Viscosity typical of 15W-50, formally referred to as HR3.

Throughout February we are offering free delivery when you order a box of Driven HR 15W-50 synthetic motor oil; to order please contact us on 01929 551557

Win a trip to Daytona with Driven Racing Oil Products

Alun enjoys his time in Daytona. As an extra incentive to buy our Driven Racing Oil products (as if its quality is not enough!), we are continuing to run our oil competition into a third year. After a successful season in 2013, we are still offering the chance to win merchandise and a trip of a lifetime to the Rolex 24 At Daytona when buying any of our oils....

A raffle ticket will be issued to everyone who spends over 10 on lubricants (oil/brake fluid), and every month these will be entered into a draw to win merchandise. In December we have a grand finale draw, which awards a lucky someone the prize of joining us at the Rolex 24 At Daytona - with return flights (Gatwick to Orlando), hotel and tickets to the Rolex 24 At Daytona race weekend all included in the prize!

Our winner this year was Alun Edwards, from ISL Motorsport, who has been using Driven Racing Oil for years now. He had a great time at the race when he came with us in January 2014!

Rolex 24 At Daytona 2014

We have recently arrived back from the Rolex 24 At Daytona race weekend, which took place from the 23rd to 26th January.

Our two Sunoco Daytona Challenge Winners, Bradley Smith and Lewis Plato, had a fantastic experience at Daytona during the Rolex 24 race weekend, with both drivers showing great pace and bringing the cars back to the pit in one piece!

Bradley, our Sunoco Rolex 24 At Daytona Challenge winner, had three long stints in the Whelen sponsored and Marsh Racing run #31 Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype during the Rolex 24 At Daytona: The first was plagued by a bad accident involving another Daytona Prototype and a GT car, resulting in a red flag holding up the race for nearly an hour; his second stint, in the early hours of the morning saw him consistently lapping on the same pace as the race leaders; his last stint was a tough one with the car severely "wounded", but at the same time euphoric when he took the finishing flag in 10th position in class. Had it not been for three lengthy visits to the garage for repairs a top 5 would definitely have been within reach!

The race was won by the #5 Action Express Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype driven by Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi and Sebastian Bourdais who beat the #10 Velocity Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Protoype driven by Jordan, Ricky and Wayne Taylor, and Max Angelelli by 1.461 seconds - what a race!

Overall, Bradley definitely proved that he could cut it against the best in the business!

Lewis competed with 2013 Trans-Am Champion Cameron Lawrence on Friday 24th in the BMW Performance IMSA 200 race with the Mitchum Motorsports run Chevrolet Camaro. For this year, the V8 powered racer sported the iconic Sunoco Camaro livery from the sixties - don't you think it looks AWESOME!?

Lewis got the honour to qualify the Sunoco Camaro, which turned out to be a tough one - with a packed grid, and only 15 minutes to run, and the likelihood of a red flag (which of course happened), Lewis in reality only had 2 laps to put down a good time, but did so brilliantly, qualifying in 17th position (over 60 cars on the grid). After a successful first stint by Lewis, and a quick pit stop, Cameron took over in 10th and continued to push hard, seeing them run as high as 3rd before, what would have been a brilliant strategically executed splash and dash pit stop, was wasted by multiple yellow flags. Cameron crossed the finish line in 20th place in the end of a crazy but fantastic race and great experience for everyone involved!

Again, the Sunoco Challenges have proved that if you are good enough to win the Sunoco Daytona Challenge and the Sunoco IMSA Challenge, you are good enough to race side by side with the best in the business. We had a blast, as did our winners and we can't wait to get back in 2015!
