*Valentine's Week - February 12-17*

Do you need an excuse to get your sweetie to workout with you? Well here it is. The week of February 12-17 we're declaring Valentine's Week! Let's see that #sweetsweat. We're featuring one of our favorite workout couples below - Ray and Dinette Tate.

The next 5-week small group training session starts on Monday, February 12, at 10 am. Cindy  will help guide you to a stronger - leaner - healthier you using circuit training with stability balls and weights (and modifications when needed).  Enroll for $40 or drop-in for $10 any time. DVT FIT CHALLENGERS: a reminder to weigh-in and mark your classes on the posterboard each week - or pay the pot $1! Final weigh-in and measurements will be taken the week of February 26.

We're excited to announce a new fitness format and instructor coming to Vibe Fit Studio - Barre above  taught by instructor Karrie Bixler. 

Barre above fuses the very best of pilates, yoga, aerobics, and strength training. You don't need to worry about dance experience. Barre above is barre for all bodies! Classes include modifications for any fitness level so you can feel successful while achieving an amazing workout that will lengthen, strengthen and tone your body. 

Karrie has been a group exercise fitness instructor for 15+ years and is trained in dance, Pilates, PiYo, Barre above and is a certified yoga instructor. She's been taking PiYo at the studio since last March so she may be a familiar face to you!

The 5-week session for Barre above will start Sunday, Feb 25, and run each Sunday from 5:30-6:30 pm.

Zumba Kids/Zumba Kids Jr. Returns Saturday, February 24, 1:00-2:00 pm!

Zumba Kids/Zumba Kids Jr. class for both girls and boys ages 4-11 will return for a 5-week session on Saturday, Feb 24, from 1-2 pm. 




And big congratulations to our Zumba Kids instructor, Jade, and her family on the birth of Jax Lorenzo. Jax arrived January 20 at 7 lb., 7 oz. Mom and baby are doing great!  


Couples That Workout Together, Stay Together


If you come to DanceXperience, you already know the studio sweethearts, Ray and Dinette Tate. The Tates were the first to come to mind when thinking about #couplegoals and February love. 

Ray and Dinette, both age 71, met in junior high but started "dating" in high school and went to prom together . They got married in May 1965 and they've been working out ever since! 

Of their 53 years of marriage, they  said they've been taking Damon's dance classes for about 25. (We looked back at their studio history and it's rare if they miss a week!) So when asked what their favorite current workout is, they said, "Damon's class!"

Ray said the secret to their success and advice for other couples: "Share the same interests." Dinette laughed and added, "sometimes." He said, "Try it together...and respect each other." If someone says no, you have to compromise. For example, Ray points out with a smile, "There are two things I can't do: get a motorcylce or a Vitamix...she says I have too many appliances." 

And that's why we love the Tates.

What Have You Done For Yourself Today? 


February is the month of love and also the time when our "new year" resolutions start to fall away. I have experienced this shift in myself and with friends and loved-ones that have so many goals on January 1, 2018 and then come February, they are disappointed or beating themselves up for not maintaining the long list. One of the main things I see is that changing too many things all at once often does not have positive long-term results. 

This month, try to focus on ONE thing each day that you can do for your own self-care and well being. This is like a month long resolution. Valentines Day is a beautiful expression of us honoring those we love around us but what about showing ourselves some love? Self-care is an act of self-love. So, lay down the guilty feelings, that feeling that you constantly have to DO for others and carve out some space for yourself. When you are healthy and whole, you can give way more love to your family and friends. 

Here are a few Self-Care ideas that you can easily do each day:
  • Take an Epsom salt bath
  • Do some yoga stretches
  • Read for a half hour
  • Write in a Journal
  • Get a Massage or ask a loved one ;)
  • Allow yourself to take a nap if you are tired!
  • Practice deep breathing for 3 minutes

Vibe Fit Studio is located at 9101 Allen Road, Allen Park. 

Parking is available on both sides of the building and on the side streets if needed. Please do not park at the gas station or Rebecca's hair salon.
