Couples That Workout Together, Stay Together
If you come to DanceXperience, you already know the studio sweethearts, Ray and Dinette Tate. The Tates were the first to come to mind when thinking about #couplegoals and February love.
Ray and Dinette, both age 71, met in junior high but started "dating" in high school and went to prom together
. They got married in May 1965 and they've been working out ever since!
Of their 53 years of marriage, they
said they've been taking Damon's dance classes for about 25. (We looked back at their studio history and it's rare if they miss a week!) So when asked what their favorite current workout is, they said, "Damon's class!"
Ray said the secret to their success and advice for other couples: "Share the same interests." Dinette laughed and added, "sometimes." He said, "Try it together...and respect each other." If someone says no, you have to compromise. For example, Ray points out with a smile, "There are two things I can't do: get a motorcylce or a Vitamix...she says I have too many appliances."
And that's why we love the Tates.
