FastTrac New Venture for Women

You have an innovative idea for a business but you're unsure how and where to start.  FastTrac New Venture will help you define and evaluate your business concept while developing a business plan.  Participants will receive research, in-class activities, guest speakers, peer-to-peer interaction and facilitated discussion.

Have you considered getting your business certified as a WBE or MBE but not sure how to start?  Certification can help you leverage your marketing efforts as you seek out government and corporate contracts.  But the path to certification can seem overwhelming.

Join us for an informational workshop where we'll discuss the benefits of certification (so you can decide if it's even right for you) of certification.  You'll hear learn about certification from the State of Kansas and the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).  Rhonda Harris, Minority & Women-Owned Business Director for the state of Kansas, will provide an overview of certifications available through the state and a deep dive into completing the application.  Ann DeAngelo, Associate Director WBE Certification for the WBDC's Kansas City office, will provide an overview of the WBENC certification and the application process.

Need a loan to help start or grow your business?  Unable to get a traditional bank loan due to start-up status, small size of loan or credit issues?
Attend a free informational session to learn about several programs designed to help fund small businesses.  You'll hear from community partners AltCap, Hispanic Economic Development Corporation, Justine PETERSEN, NetWork Kansas and the Women's Business Center.
  • AltCap - Diversified Contractors Growth Fund provides loans for M/WBE certified contractors and ArtCap provides loans for artists and businesses in creative industries
  • Justine PETERSEN - provides small dollar loans to entrepreneurs who cannot receive a traditional bank loan along with credit building loans
  • WE-Lend Microloan - microloans for women-led businesses
  • StartUp Kansas - provides gap funding to help entrepreneurs start or grow a business in Kansas
You'll learn about resources that can help you prepare your business to seek funding and implement your business plan.  You'll also learn about the loan products available through area microlenders and how to apply.

WE-Lend Microloan Funds Available to Women-Led Businesses 

 

Are you looking for a loan between $2,500 - $25,000 for your business?  The WBC's WE-Lend microloan fund provides small loans to women-led businesses who are struggling to receive a traditional loan for their business.  These loans are ideal for women who may have low credit scores, a small amount of collateral or who are just starting out in business.

Join us for WEN's 2017 luncheon on Tuesday, April 4th from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center. Find out what makes our graduates STRONGER. Help us celebrate women overcoming adversity and charting new paths toward career success and financial independence. The Luncheon will be Co-Chaired by Lisa Ginter, Chief Executive Officer of CommunityAmerica Credit Union and Angela Hurt, President of Veracity Consulting, Inc. State Street will be honored with the 2017 Beth K. Smith Award because of their outstanding dedication incredible commitment to WEN and our mission.
