2017 ARC-Oak Ridge National Laboratory Summer Math-Science-Technology Institute and Summer Science Academy
ARC (Appalachian Regional Commission) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, will hold two hands-on STEM learning programs for Appalachian students and teachers in July 2017: A high school math-science-technology institute, which is a two-week residential program for students and teachers; and a middle school science academy, which is a one-week residential program just for students. Both programs are all expenses paid and offer the opportunity to work with world-class scientists doing real science!

The numbers of participants and applications that may be submitted are limited as follows:
  • The high school program will be limited to a maximum of 52 participants: 26 students and 26 teachers. Oak Ridge National Laboratory will not be able to accommodate any additional participants. This allows for a minimum of two teachers and two students from PA.
  • The middle school program will be limited to a maximum of 26 student participants (students only, no teachers). This allows for a minimum of 2 middle school students from PA. ARC encourages states to select all middle school applicants from the same school, as this provides a better experience for the students and eases transportation arrangements.
This program is only available to ARC designated counties.  For more information on each program and how to apply click here.  Applications are due by March 3, 2017.

Procurement Technical Assistance Center
The Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) at the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance is the only PTAC covering Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill & Wayne counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The center has been in existence for over twenty-five years. The PTAC serves as a liaison to help local companies, usually small businesses increase sales and growth for our regional economy. NEPA's PTAC staff provides marketing and technical assistance to qualified, competitive companies who wish to bid on government contracts and also works with government agencies to help locate suppliers in the region. The tools available from NEPA's PTAC can help companies market their products and qualify their business to be a leading contender in winning a contract with a local, state or federal agency.

The process of selling to the government on all levels can be quite confusing and sometimes overwhelming so let the NEPA Alliance PTAC start you on your way to gain access to one of the world's largest markets! We provide procurement technical assistance by offering no-fee and confidential counseling on selling your products and/or services to the appropriate local, state or federal government agency.

For personal and confidential assistance, please contact Karen Ostroskie, PTAC Senior Government Procurement Manager, Paula Terpak, PTAC Government Procurement Specialist, or call (570) 655-5581.
