Markus, Angelika and Bogdan are returning to South Florida for the 5th year! We are blessed to have them back for more joyous chanting. A gentle yet expansive spirit pervades all the music of Mirabai Ceiba. The delicate sounds of harp, piano, and guitar blend with lovingly intertwined voices amid lush celestial soundscapes. Their concerts are group celebrations for peace - joyous and loving occasions that embody the duo's profound belief in music as a universal language uniting all the world's peoples, cultures and traditions. Mirabai Ceiba is a duo consisting of guitarist / singer Markus Sieber and singer / harpist / keyboardist Angelika Baumbach. They come from different parts of the world. Markus is East German. Angelika was born in Tucson, Arizona, and grew up in a small village near Mexico City, the daughter of a Mexican mother and German father. Together, Angelika and Markus have forged engaging new style of world devotional music blending Gurmukhi mantras from the Kundalini Yoga tradition with original songs in English and Spanish that reflect a Native American influence and also draw words of wisdom from Rumi, Thich Nhat Hanh, Guru Nanak and Yogi Bhajan.

ECSTATIC CHANT CONCERT
Jai Uttal is a Grammy nominated pioneer in the world music community. His eclectic east meets-west sound has put his music at the forefront of the world fusion movement. Jai Uttal's musical roots embrace a rich variety of cultures and traditions that span the globe and the centuries. From the hillbilly music of the Appalachian Mountains to the passionate strains of Bengali street singers, from the haunting rhythms and melodies of ancient India to contemporary electric rock sounds, Jai's music distills the essence of diverse musical forms. 2011 saw the release of two new albums, "Queen of Hearts" (Nutone), a unique mixture of reggae, ska, and samba rhythms, used as a backdrop for call and response, dance-oriented kirtan; as well as "Kirtan Kids" (Sounds True), the first record of its kind, created for families to sing, laugh, dance, and celebrate?life together through call-and-response singing. His latest recording, "Return to Shiva Station: Kailash Connection," is a wholly new album re-envisioning his groundbreaking "Shiva Station," bringing the listener closer to the music itself with unadorned, intimate arrangements that illuminate directly the spiritual heart of each composition. Jai adds, "World music is music from everywhere. Music that creates bridges. Music that unites hearts and cultures. Music that brings peace."
PRAY AND PLAY DAY
Embark on a vocal journey through the sacred sounds of ancient India. Drawing from an unbroken tradition of Indian devotional singing, Jai Uttal will introduce and lead us in the ancient practice of "Kirtan" (or chanting), the heart of devotional yoga. This practice of calling to the divine creates a bridge between the individual and the eternal, opening the heart and welcoming the spirit. Sometimes soft and meditative and sometimes loud and wildly rhythmic, Kirtan takes the participant on a deep emotional and musical journey through our mostly unexplored inner world. With solo performance and call-and-response group chanting, Jai creates a space of invocation, prayer, and heartfelt expression. Jai has been leading Kirtans worldwide for over thirty years. "These ancient chants," writes Jai "contain a transformative power and healing energy. By singing these prayers we join a stream of consciousness and devotion that has been flowing for centuries." No previous experience is needed. This is an exploration of the heart, independent of vocal or musical technique.

Katie Bee discovered the magic of yoga when she moved to South Florida in 2011 from Atlanta, GA. Three years later, the yoga bug truly bit her and she decided to embark on teacher training, acquiring her certification at the Joyful School of Yoga in Cooper City. If you are looking for a fun, energetic, spiritual flow set to an eclectic mix of music, come and check out her class! When Katie is not teaching, she is enjoying time with her husband, traveling, eating (she's a foodie), enjoying friends & family and sharing adventures with her Chocolate Lab, Layla.
