Carbon Monoxide Detector Installation 

The number 1 law that will affect you this year is the carbon monoxide detectors installation law. By July 1, 2011 certified detectors must be installed in all single family homes. We will be working with you and the tenants to tackle this challenge. We will have more information to come regarding installation policies and cost. For more information click here 

Red Flag Identity Theft Rule 

 

The red flag identity theft rule requires that financial institutions and creditors develop policies and procedure for identifying, detecting and responding to any potential identity theft. This could apply to prospective tenants applying for our rental properties. In order, to avoid potential liability, we now run all credit reports through an agency that automatically identifies any red flags. It is not clear how this rule will apply to landlords but in order to protect you and your investment we have proceed as though it does. For more information click here 

Water Conservation 

This law is something to keep in mind for the future. Water-conserving plumbing fixtures are required to be installed in all single family homes by January 1, 2017 and in multi-family properties by January 1, 2019. For more information click here.
