Dear members and friends of SACC-Georgia,
I hope this newsletter finds you well, and I am looking forward to seeing new friends and old at the events we have coming up this spring and beyond. In addition to networking opportunities, company tours, and the Annual Golf tournament coming up on the calendar, we also have one of our featured events around the corner with the Annual Meeting and Member Appreciation Reception on March 23rd. The main purpose is to honor our members and get your input on the year ahead, so we really hope to see you there.
I want to take the opportunity to present a few changes within SACC-Georgia. After 4 years as the Executive Director, Sara Henriksson has decided to pursue new opportunities in Atlanta. I want to personally thank Sara for all she has brought to SACC-Georgia during the past 4 years, and we all are very excited for her future endeavors. I know her hard work on behalf of the chamber will continue to benefit our organization for many years to come. I am also happy to announce that she will remain active as a board member. With that said, I am thrilled to present to you our new Executive Director, Sara Persson. Sara moved to Atlanta in June with her American husband. She has previous experience within several non-profit organizations and a background in human resources. Please read more about Sara

Annual Meeting & Member Appreciation
This event is in honor of our members, whom actually are the heart and soul of this organization; we want to show you all how much we appreciate your support.

Annual Golf Tournament
We invite companies, Chambers of Commerce’s, and friends to join our Annual Golf Tournament at Laurel Springs Golf Club – premiere private golf course – on Monday, April 24.
Each 4-person team will represent its company in an 18-hole round of golf, 9 holes of scramble and 9 holes of best ball. Special contest: Closes to the hole long drive competition.
Food and drinks will be served during the award reception and a prize will be given to our tournament winners!

Sweden Day
Save the Date for our annual signature event - Sweden Day. Sweden is a great occasion to come together and celebrate Swedish heritage, culture, cuisine and traditions, as well as the strengthening the long, meaningful historical bonds between Sweden and the U.S.

Sara Persson - New Executive Director
|
|
We are pleased to announce Sara Persson as the new Executive Director for SACC-Georgia as of January 2017. Sara moved to Atlanta in June 2016. She grew up in Karlstad, Sweden and has a B.S degree in Human Resource Management.
Sara previously worked for Lund and Karlstad University as a research assistant. She also has four years of experience working with various non-profit organizations in project management roles.

Sara Henriksson - New Board member

We are happy to announce that Sara Henriksson, previous Executive Director for SACC-Georgia, will still be active within SACC-Georgia but now as a board member. Sara now works as the Director for the Scandinavian Desk at YER - an international recruitment agency.
Sara Henriksson will continue to contribute to the growth of SACC-Georgia with her invaluable expertise and experience.

John Woodward - New Board member

We welcome John Woodward back on the SACC-GA board. John is the Senior Director of Foreign Investment at the Metro Atlanta Chamber.
We are thrilled to have John Woodward as part of the SACC-GA team. John assists foregin-owned enterprises contemplating entry or expansion in the U.S. Over the past 20 years John has helped hundreds of companies relocate or expand.

SACC-USA Scholarship for American students
|
|
|
This year SACC-USA is supporting a scholarship for American students to study International business management in Sweden. The scholarship includes one year master studies at Linneaus University and a parallel internship with AIF Managment AB. To be eligible for this scholarship students must be a U.S citizen or U.S permanent resident and hold a bachelor's degree.

Too many projects and not enough time?
As a SACC member your company has the exclusive opportunity to participate in the
SACC-USA Trainee Program which enables people from Sweden to come to the U.S on a J-1 visa. You get access to the SACC-USA's database with qualified, bi-lingual trainee candidates educated within the highly regarded Swedis educational system.
SACC-USA will assist with the evaluation of candidates as requested. Your company may also use the SACC-USA J-1 visa service if you already identified trainee candidates or for employees in internal training or rotating programs.

The Swedish "Fettisdagen"
|
|
Have you ever tasted a Semla? The Semla is one of Sweden's most beloved pastries and it even has its own day - "Fettisdagen" - this year February 28. "Fettisdagen" is celebrated every year, on Tuesday 7 weeks before Easter. Over a million "Semlor" are sold on that very day and it's estimated that Swedes buy 40 million "Semlor" a year. In a country with only 9 million people - that's quite remarkable.
