Sunless Tanning
Get The Scoop On Our Spray Tans, Products and Treatments

During the winter, skin is usually at it's fairest for many people living in cooler climates. The days are shorter, and the cold weather seems to last forever. While there is an end in sight with spring just around the corner, now is the time to get glowing in a healthier way.

Sunless tanning continues to be a popular option as more spa-goers realize the harmful effects of the damaging ultra violet rays and seek effective alternatives. As a result sunless tanning companies are developing formulas that are not only safer but longer lasting as well.

Sometimes, it really is what's inside that counts. Sunless tanning formulas have come a long way since the days of unnatural colour and a foul smell. In fact, many of today's formulas contain components that prevent those negative effects and also provide benefits to the skin.

Sunless tanning is a reaction between DHA and the proteins in your skin that occur in your outermost layer, the epidermis. Approximately 25% of the epidermis sheds every 7 days. As your skin cells naturally shed, so does your tan. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you get the most from your sunless tan application.

Spray Tan Do's & Don'ts

Proper application is the key to a natural-looking and long-lasting tan. Sunless tanning experts agree that there is a wrong and a right way to apply the formula. Here are some handy tips to pass along:

Shower and exfoliate really well before the application as it gets rid of dead skin cells.

Do not apply any lotions or perfume and make sure to remove your makeup and deodorant beforehand.

Hydrate by drinking lots of water and eat your greens to enhance and deepen the colour of the spray tan.

Avoid any products with essential oils or moisturizers before your spray tan application. They can leave a thin film on the skin which can affect the development of the tan or create a barrier that causes a streaking effect.

At Home Skin Prep Tips

Prepping your skin for a sunless tanning application is an essential part of the process. We encourage our guests to take the necessary steps to ensure an even & longer lasting results.

Wait at least 8 to 10 hours after the application before showering.

Do not apply moisturizer until after your first shower. After that, be sure to moisturize with an alcohol free water based moisturizer.

Do not exercise and try to avoid sweating until after your first shower.

Do not exfoliate the skin for at least 48 hours after the sunless tanning application. When you do exfoliate, be gentle as the spray tan can be scrubbed off.

If you are planning on being in the sun make sure you use sunscreen. You can also use a tan extender to make the tan last longer.

Egg Roll Stir Fry

All the delicious flavors of an egg roll without all the wrapping, frying and added mess that comes with it. Plus without the frying or white flour based wrap this is a much healthier alternative.

It can be made in 30 minutes or less (make the most of your time and chop veggies while the turkey is cooking) and I love that it's a dinner everyone can agree on. I mean how could it not be it's basically an egg roll meets stir-fry?

Iv'e tried this once with turkey and once with pork and actually preferred the turkey but if ground pork is what you have on hand feel free to use that instead.

I like this served with rice (brown or white) but it's delicious all on it's own as well so skip the take out and try this instead!

Ingredients
    Sauce Mixture

  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce, then more if desired
  • 3 Tbsp low-sodium chicken broth or water
  • 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp sriracha, plus more for serving (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil, divided

  • Stir Fry Mixture

  • 1 lb 93% lean ground turkey
  • Salt
  • 1 small yellow onion, halved then thinly sliced into strips from root to tip
  • 1 red bell pepper, cored and sliced into thin 2-inch strips
  • 1 Tbsp peeled and minced fresh ginger
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 cups packed shredded cabbage (16 oz)*
  • 1 1/2 cups matchstick carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions

Directions
  • In a small mixing bowl whisk together 1 Tbsp of the soy sauce with cornstarch until well blended. Mix in remaining 2 Tbsp soy sauce, chicken broth, sesame oil, brown sugar and sriracha, set aside.

  • Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a 12-inch (deep) non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add half of the ginger and half of the garlic and saute 20 seconds. Add turkey and season with just a pinch of salt. Cook, while breaking up turkey and tossing occasionally, until turkey has cooked through. Drain and transfer turkey to a sheet of foil, wrap to keep warm.

  • Heat remaining 1 Tbsp oil in same skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and saute until they have nearly softened, about 4 minutes. Add in bell pepper and remaining half of the ginger and garlic and saute 1 minute longer. Toss in cabbage and carrots then whisk soy sauce mixture once more and pour over cabbage. Allow to cook, tossing frequently until cabbage is tender, about 4 - 5 minutes. Toss in cooked turkey. Taste and add in a little more soy sauce if needed. Serve warm topped with green onions and more sriracha if desired.

*Instead of chopping the cabbage yourself you could replace the shredded cabbage and matchstick carrots with equal amounts of coleslaw mix.
