From Polite Atheist to Missionary

Buddy James describes himself as having been a "Polite Atheist."  When invited to church, he would attend.  However, he held on to his stance that there was no God.  This led to a life that he says was lonely, he kept to himself as much as he could so that he could hide his drinking from his family and friends.  He didn't want them to know how much he was drinking.  He didn't care about anything, especially himself.  He says, " Nothing was as important to me as getting by myself so I could drink. My health was a total wreck. I was hospitalized twice for excessive drinking."

After Buddy came to Pierced Ministries in November, 2014, he says, "I asked God into my life, and He was right there to show me the right way to live. He gave me a purpose for living: to glorify Him. And He showed me I did matter. I now have a network of wonderful people in my life who have shown me how to have fun in a good Christian way, and I love it. "

Now Buddy wants to encourage those struggling with addiction by sharing with them that, "Jesus is watching and waiting for you to call on Him. And He will help you in every aspect of your life. You just have to ask Him! "  Now this former atheist has great hopes for his future.  His desire is to become a missionary anywhere that people need help.  " I want to help God spread His love around the world. Sounds corny, but it is the truth."

Buddy is currently serving Pierced Ministries as our Resident Services Coordinator.  He also works at the Pierced Ministries Thrift Store.  After graduating from the program, he felt that God wanted him to be in full-time ministry.  He gave up the material possessions that formerly meant so much to him so that He could give all to Jesus.  He is also enrolled in the Triad Church School of Ministry in pursuit of fulfilling his desire to go to the missions field.  If you ask him why he's done this, he tell you this about Jesus:  "Simple: He is the best Friend, Father, Protector, Guidance Counselor, I could ever wish for. "

If your life is controlled by addictions, do what Buddy did.  Cry out to Jesus!  He is there waiting for you.  Contact us at 336-340-2218 or 336-307-3899 to learn more about how you can be set free from the bondage of addiction.
