A Bird’s Eye View of the Roundabout
This photo was taken by Dan Chapin our incubator tenant from upstairs in the Visitors Center. Yes, we are right next door to the infamous roundabout and yes, it is inconvenient. It’s noisy and muddy. Our parking is gone, so it’s not easy for visitors to just pull up front, hop out to grab wine tasting maps and coupons… they need to be interested enough in learning about their visit to Healdsburg, to park and walk. The bigger concern for me is not the inconvenience of the construction , we can endure this, the bigger concern is the impacts on the businesses in this area. They may not be able to endure, especially without your support both financially and neighborly. Yes, these are your neighbors. The people who own these businesses live here and now need you neighbor, to help them endure. Have you had breakfast at Singletree lately? Or lunch at The Parish ? Dinner at Mateo’s ? How about Sunday brunch at Cafe Lucia ? How about a cider and shuffleboard at Sonoma Cider ? Did you know there’s a new athleisure boutique called Twisst full of great work-out wear for women?  Shoffeits off the Square is packed with treasures from over 40 dealers in fine antiques, lovely jewelry and collectibles ? Healdsburg Taproom has a huge selection of beers on tap or to take out, and the Paul Mahder Gallery  and GrapeSeed Tasting Room offer a lovely combination of fine art and fine wine. Get ready for spring, take your bike into Spoke Folk for a tune up or pick up a new jersey.  Progress is being made daily on the roundabout. I am confident that once it’s finished we’ll all forget what used to be there, in the enjoyment of a convenient and attractive entrance to our downtown, but will we have lost some of our neighbor businesses in the process? I’m cheering you on…You can do it! Get down here and support your neighbors. They need you and we need them!

The Interns Are Out
The Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to be participating in the Healdsburg High School Academic Internship Program once again and even more thrilled to have intern, Claudia Nunez, aboard.

Claudia has a wide variety of interests such as physics, culinary arts, volleyball, community service, and much more. She is not sure what she wants to settle on for a career, but whatever it is, it must satisfy her entrepreneurial spirit. Claudia is one of 150+ juniors from Healdsburg High school who are out in the local workforce for three weeks learning valuable skills and lessons.

Be sure to keep your eye out for Claudia. She is reaching out to businesses in effort to further promote the Healdsburg Employee Recognition Opportunity (HERO) card. So far Claudia has distributed over 1,000 cards and has added new and exciting deals to the HERO program.
Lambert Bridge Winery Donates Tasting Room Fees
Post-wildfires the owners and employees of Lambert Bridge wanted to support the local community in its recovery process and decided that donating the tasting room fees for the remainder of 2017 to two local charities – the Healthcare Foundation Northern Sonoma County and the Sonoma County Grape Growers Foundation - would be a great way to recognize the efforts of those groups while helping the community.

“We chose the Healthcare Foundation Northern Sonoma County because the work it does keeps healthcare accessible locally for the families and the region’s workforce,” said Bill Smart, VP and General Manager of Lambert Bridge. Smart added, “Immediately after the fires, the Healthcare Foundation was working with the healthcare providers in our region to understand what was needed to support the healthcare workforce and retain quality healthcare in our community – and we wanted to be a part of supporting that effort, with our check for $12,447.50.”
Barbara Grasseschi, Board Chair of the Healthcare Foundation note, “We are so appreciative of the ongoing support of the Chambers family and the employees of Lambert Bridge. This was a great way to make a difference in the health of our region.”
Dine Around Proceeds Donated to The Food Pantry
The Chamber was pleased to contribute $1500 from the proceeds of the Annual Holiday Dine Around to the Healdsburg Food Pantry. The Food Pantry will in turn use this money to purchase fresh food for the Pantry from the Redwood Empire Food Bank. By purchasing food from the Redwood Empire Food Bank, the Healdsburg Food Pantry is able to spread the dollars much farther. While I’m writing about the Dine Around, I would like to thank Lori Moore, who for the past several years has been the coordinator for the Dine Around. Through her dedication, the Dine Around has become an annual holiday tradition for many in our community and an opportunity for many of us to enjoy our fine local restaurants.  This year Lori announced her retirement from Dine Around and she graciously trained Barbara Reid to take over. Thank you Lori and welcome Barbara.
