Great Reasons to Have a Swimming Pool
1. Encourage Family Time

When you have Parrot Bay Pools build your swimming pool, you're  creating a fun and relaxing space for your children and family to spend time together without ever leaving the backyard! You'll make lasting memories as you teach your kids to swim, play with them in the pool, and bar-b-que by the water.

2. Create an Outdoor Resort at Home

A well-designed swimming pool isn't just a bunch of water. It can turn your backyard into an elegant outdoor oasis. With waterfalls and other unique amenities, a pool can serve as a relaxing and inviting centerpiece right in your own backyard.

3. Throw a Party

A pool is a great way to entertain. Invite your friends and neighbors over for a poolside bar-b-que or a dip in the water.

4. Stay Healthy and Lose Weight

Instead of driving to the gym, you can spend time exercising in your own swimming pool. Research shows that swimming provides a better total body workout with a low risk of injury.

5. Unwind and Relax

Spending time in the water helps your body relax and get rid of stress. You'll also sleep better than you ever have before.

6. Keep an Eye on Your Kids

With a swimming pool in your backyard, you can give your kids and their friends a place to play that is both convenient and safe. You can also rest easy knowing that your children are close by.

7. Long Lasting Fun

Building a pool is a great investment that will reap rewards for a lifetime. A vacation, a movie, or a visit to a theme park will all come to an end, but a pool will be enjoyed by your friends and family for years to come.

Oversized Pumps

pump Bigger Isn't Always Better

A common issue in pool building is the myth that a bigger pump means a better pump. A pump that is too big, ie. more horsepower than necessary, is worse because it uses a lot more energy to do the same job, and it will wear out a lot quicker. Overkill on horsepower can cause a number of problems including noise, friction losses, wear and tear on pipes and other pool equipment, high electrical costs and short pump life. Be sure when you build a new pool or replace your pump that you choose the right size pump for better energy efficiency. Don't use a 2 horsepower pump if a 1 horsepower will do. Don't be fooled by a pool company who says they will give you a larger pump when what you actually need is a more energy efficient pump. Pool pumps, regardless of horsepower come in multiple speeds, 1-speed, 2-speed, and variable speed. The more speed options, the more control you have over the horsepower used. Don't confuse horsepower with speed options. If you have any questions, we are hydraulics trained and here to help.

Now is the Perfect Time to Build or Renovate Your Pool
deck jets    One of the best reasons to build a new pool or revitalize your existing pool now is that the work will be finished before pool season returns to Carolina in just a few short months. Certainly, it may be an exercise in patience as you wait for warmer weather to return so you can enjoy your brand-new or newly refurbished pool, but if you get it done now you'll be rewarded by being able to enjoy swimming from day one of the season. Likewise, if you have plans to upgrade the appearance of your yard in the spring to complement your new pool, your landscaping efforts will be much easier if the pool is finished first. That way, you won't have the inconvenience of working around a construction crew, and having to coordinate planting and hardscaping with the phases of pool construction. As always, we are here to help any time of the year!
Most Common Swimming Pool Building Mistakes
Anderson Pool 1.Shopping like you are buying a car

Swimming pools are custom construction projects, and are built by individuals and pool contractors with different standards. Unlike an automobile, which is manufactured in a factory under controlled conditions, all swimming pools are not built the same. Much of what you do not see will impact the cost and quality of your pool.

2. Not asking questions about licensure and service after the sale

Is your pool builder a NC licensed contractor? Find out here www.nclbgc.org. What makes them qualified to build your custom swimming pool? Do your homework. Get 3 or 4 estimates from reputable swimming pool companies in the area. Does your pool company also service the pool after the sale? Do they have a dedicated service department for maintenance, repairs, and cleanings?

3.Shopping based on price

Usually, if a deal seems too good to be true, it is. If you shop for price alone, you are destined to be disappointed. Consider the saying, "If you think the cost of a professional is expensive, wait until you hire an amateur!"

4.Shopping over the phone for a swimming pool

It's impossible. Take the time to meet with a swimming pool contractor and have them provide you with an estimate. Do not assume every pool builder knows how to properly construct a pool. The more you know and understand about swimming pool construction, the better buyer you will be.

5. Assuming swimming pools cost less to build in the wintertime

We have seen increases in prices, gas increases, and insurance premium hikes. Pools don't get cheaper as time goes on; building a swimming pool will never be less expensive than it is today.

6. Focusing on the aesthetics and not the mechanics of your swimming pool

Hydraulic design, flow rates, pipe size, pump and filter types, chemical management systems, and many other factors will make a big difference in the ability of your swimming pool to stay clean and sanitized.

7. Not thinking about safety

Swimming pools can be a great place to have fun, exercise, and just enjoy the outdoors. They can also be dangerous. Make sure you know what your city/county requires for barriers and fencing. More importantly, make sure you protect the ones you care for, and protect the ones that cannot protect themselves.

As always, Parrot Bay Pools is here to answer your questions.
