DAY CENTER UPDATES

I have wonderful news about our Playground Project for the kids of our program.
Hazeltine Nurseries has completed the drainage portion of our project and we are ready to keep moving forward.  Our estimated project cost is $55,246.00 and we have had several generous donations and grants.  We have received commitments totaling $42,550.00 to date and could not be more excited!  As we move forward we will be announcing all the wonderful support we have received for this project!  If you would like to support this project and help us reach our goal, please call or email Jennifer at jenniferfagenbaum@familypromisessc.org or 941-497-9881.  We have such an amazing and generous community helping us make this a reality.

FAMILY UPDATES

After the Barth family received their vehicle from Recycled Rides, unfortunately employment became an issue.  However, I am happy to say that while this family has been in the program a bit longer than we anticipated, they have found housing which will be available March 25th and she has secured another job.  Things are really looking up and we are very excited for them.  The children are doing well.  Between the Diabetes with one child and the Celiac Disease with another, this mom has her work cut out for her.  We will follow up with this family for the next year and I will keep you updated on how they are doing.  I know this family touched many of us and the support she has received is amazing.  Thank you!

We were very lucky to be able to celebrate a Birthday last week and everyone looks so happy!  Thank you Congregations for the way you take care of our families!

FROM THE DIRECTOR

I apologize for not getting the Update out in February but it has been an exciting and busy month.  We have had a change in staffing and I will be announcing the details in the next newsletter but it looks like it will be a wonderful transition and great for our families!

I would once again like to send a sincere and heartfelt Thank You to all of our Supporters, Congregations and Volunteers.  Without all of you, this program would not be possible!   Many volunteers have been so enthusiastic about this program that they have found additional ways to become involved and participate.  As we expand our program and grow, this has been very beneficial to us and has allowed us to do some things we otherwise would not have been able to.  We would like to continue to grow and expand what we can offer our families.  I am asking anyone with any interest in helping in the areas listed below to send me an email or call to let me know they are interested in participating and in what way.  jenniferfagenbaum@familypromisessc.org 941-497-9881

Development Fundraising Event (planning and participation), Grant writing and identifying potential donors and grant opportunities
Public Relations Distribution of PR materials and outreach to community
Host Recruitment Outreach to congregations to solicit involvement in our program
Facilities Lawn maintenance, cleaning projects, minor repairs, etc.
Mentors and Facilitators Assist our graduated families in association with staff for follow-up and help develop portions of the follow-up program like the Financial Education Curriculum
Housing Task Force Explore options and create opportunities for housing for our families

The Housing Task Force is going to be extremely important in our future.  We have families who have passed the 90 day mark for our program through no fault of their own (currently the Barth Family is at 150 days).  They just could not find something affordable in the area and that is even harder in season.
As long as the families are doing everything they are supposed to be doing, we will not remove them but it is very difficult on the family and the kids especially to move every week for such an extended period of time.  We need to figure out how to get our families into housing sooner and I feel we can accomplish that if we have a dedicated group of people with that task in mind, finding landlords and talking with them.  As our program grows, I am sure this Task Force will assume an even greater role with even more benefit to our families.

Thank you for all you do!
Sincerely,

Jennifer Fagenbaum, Director
