I apologize for not getting the Update out in February but it has been an exciting and busy month. We have had a change in staffing and I will be announcing the details in the next newsletter but it looks like it will be a wonderful transition and great for our families!
I would once again like to send a sincere and heartfelt Thank You to all of our Supporters, Congregations and Volunteers. Without all of you, this program would not be possible! Many volunteers have been so enthusiastic about this program that they have found additional ways to become involved and participate. As we expand our program and grow, this has been very beneficial to us and has allowed us to do some things we otherwise would not have been able to. We would like to continue to grow and expand what we can offer our families. ||Assist our graduated families in association with staff for follow-up and help develop portions of the follow-up program like the Financial Education Curriculum
|Housing Task Force
||Explore options and create opportunities for housing for our families
The Housing Task Force is going to be extremely important in our future. We have families who have passed the 90 day mark for our program through no fault of their own (currently the Barth Family is at 150 days). They just could not find something affordable in the area and that is even harder in season.
As long as the families are doing everything they are supposed to be doing, we will not remove them but it is very difficult on the family and the kids especially to move every week for such an extended period of time. We need to figure out how to get our families into housing sooner and I feel we can accomplish that if we have a dedicated group of people with that task in mind, finding landlords and talking with them. As our program grows, I am sure this Task Force will assume an even greater role with even more benefit to our families.
