Advocate Case Update

 Advocate

During the month of February, cases involving 5 children were closed.  2 children were returned home, 1 child was adopted, 1 child was transferred to an independent living program and 1 child's case was transferred to another county.

Cases  for 13 new children opened in February. CASA of DuPage  currently serves 253 children through the efforts of 120 advocates.  As the number of children entering the system due to abuse and neglect continues to rise, we are serving 37 more children today than one year ago at this same time.

The Wheaton Ale Fest returns for a second year this summer.  CASA of DuPage is once again partnering with the Wheaton Park District to bring about the celebration of over 100 craft beers.

CASA of DuPage is seeking service club organizations to partner with for this event by volunteering at the festival. Groups of 5-6 from local area service clubs will work as a team and at the same time raise funds and awareness for their service organization.

If your club would like more information or to sign up to participate, please contact Karen Patton.

1,300+ children have been served since April 1993

CASA of DuPage County served 306 children in the fiscal year of 2011

Children with a CASA assigned to their case often receive up to 40% more services than if they did not have a CASA

The cost to support one child for one year in the juvenile court system is $1,277

Statistics indicate that if a child in the foster care system changes their foster care placement once, they average nine changes of foster homes while they are in the system.  Often times, their CASA is the only consistent presence in their lives during this traumatic time

CASA of DuPage is the only court ordered child advocacy program in DuPage County.  We provide a CASA for 100% of the children entering the court system due to abuse and/or neglect
