February is Love Your Library Month!  Stop in to share what you love about your Watertown Public Library and participate in the Love Your Library Month Challenge.

Love Your Library Challenge
February 1st - 25th

Pick up a Love Your Library Challenge game sheet and complete 6 of the 9 challenges for a chance to win a book of your choice!

Challenges include:
  • Attend a library program  
  • Check out an audiobook
  • Like the Library on Facebook or Instagram
  • Watch a DVD or listen to a CD from the Library
  • Read a book to a member of your family
  • Have a friend or family member sign up for a
    library card  
  • Bake treats for the Teen Valentine's Bake sale   
  • Check out any book from the library  
  • Use the new Self Check-out Machine

World War I
 World Gone Mad: The Story of World War I 
Tuesday, February 21 at 6:00pm

Historian Jim Gibbons will take you through one of the most catastrophic wars in our nation's history, World War I.

Gibbons will highlight significant events that thrust the United States into this unwanted war.  Learn how new weapons for war were first introduced: the airplane, the submarine, the aircraft carrier, and the tank were invented to achieve absolute victory.

Registration is encouraged for this FREE program.

Kids and Families
Early Literacy Storytimes

The winter session Watertown Public Library Early Literacy Storytimes has started.  Each class is geared toward its specific age group, with books, songs and fingerplays that encourage participation and help develop lifelong literacy skills.  No registration needed, just drop in!

Preschool Jamboree -  Tuesdays 10:00-10:30AM
Calling all children ages 3-5 to join us for a storytime experience filled with fun stories, songs, and crafts. Classes are followed by 15 minutes of playtime and a craft that helps to bolster social skills and creativity. 

Baby Bounce  -  Thursdays 9:15-9:45AM
A n early literacy storytime for 0-17 month olds.  Join us each week for books, songs and fingerplays that encourage participation and help develop lifelong literacy skills.   Classes are followed by 15 minutes of playtime and a craft that helps to bolster social skills and creativity. 

Toddler Tales -  Thursdays 10:00-10:30AM
A storytime geared just for toddlers (18-35 mo.)! Little minds will learn, play, and explore with stories and songs. Classes are followed by 15 minutes of playtime and a craft that helps to bolster social skills and creativity. 
 

Tuesday, February 14 from 3:30pm-4:30pm

For children ages 4-8, with an accompanying adult. Get ready for a fancy Valentine's Day afternoon tea with exquisite activities and fabulous treats! Fancy dress-up encouraged!

Teen Events
Teen Bake Sale Fundraiser

Saturday, February 11 from 10:00-12:30pm

Come one and all! For this bake sale, all funds go directly to the teen programming budget. 

I f you are willing and  able, we are in need of donated baked goods!  If you are baking an item, please have them grouped in individual ziploc bags, priced in $1 increments and here by Friday, February 10th.

Teen Movie at Towne Cinema- The Book Thief 

Thursday, February 23rd from 3:30-6:15pm 

Please meet at the theater a little before 3:30, we'll watch the movie, and then discuss the similarities and differences of the book and movie  immediately following the showing. 

Th is event is  FREE, and while it is strongly recommended to read the book prior to watching the movie so you can participate in the discussion, you are allowed to come even if you have not  read the  book!

Registration required.
