It's Time to Celebrate Small Business
The Chamber's Small Business Celebration is entering its thirteenth year in 2017. The goal is to recognize, embrace, and reward what our region is rich with - small businesses. The program begins with a nomination process, which is communicated to the Chamber's five-county service area. A letter is sent to all nominees informing them of their recent nomination. For those choosing to proceed, an application is completed to continue. A panel of judges, comprised of community leaders, is formed and those judges begin their process of selecting the Top 10 businesses to be recognized. Events are hosted to highlight and recognize the small businesses in contention for the prestigious Hagerty Small Business of the Year Award.

The nomination window opens this week. Watch the Chamber Bulletin for details on how to nominate your favorite small businesses for this prestigious award program.

Apply tod ay for Leadership Grand Traverse - Spring 2017!
Leadership Grand Traverse is a valuable program that prepares participants for decision-making leadership roles in areas such as policy, program implementation, and organizational maintenance. Think of some of the major assets of our region, such as natural resources, parks and recreation, transportation, and agriculture, just name a few. These selling points did not just happen. It took leaders in decades gone by to lead these initiatives when they were merely ideas or decisions to be made.

However, this valuable program comes with a commitment that is non-negotiable. The expectation and requirement is that you are fully engaged in the entire process. This ensures that graduation accurately signifies a polished leader, ready to get down to the business of building community! The cost for this program is $1,300 per person. There are many scholarships available that you can apply for, to help cover up to half the cost of the tuition. Applications for scholarships are available during the general LGT application process.

Click here to access the LGT application form. The application deadline is February 24.
