Dear Friends of
A Novel
Experience,
We're late in getting our February newsletter out but we are pleased to report that General Beauregard Lee did not see his shadow yesterday on Groundhog Day! An early Spring beckons! We hope that warm weather might induce you to travel to our fair city and visit this month. Don't miss our 9th annual "Puppy Love" photography show--and, especially, the best-ever reception for the artists this Saturday beginning at 6:00 pm. We'll have great company (because a store full of dog lovers is hard to beat), good things to eat, wonderful photography, and of course, the foster dogs who are looking for a good home. Do not stay away because you think you won't be able to resist one of these puppies--just let us know and we will save you from your better self. And, check out the photos--many are for sale with a portion of the price going to support Coco's Cupboard. They can always use a bag of dog food to add to their food pantry for foster dogs. We'll be looking for you (alas, not your dogs--please throw them a bone at home so we can reserve the spotlight for the foster dogs)!
Karen has just hosted our inaugural Spirituality Book Group at 1:00 on Tuesday afternoon--what an intriguing and satisfying discussion on Richard Rohr's newest book "Immortal Diamond". In the next two monthly meetings, the group will continue to examine the treasures that this book offers the reader so if you want to be a part, consider joining us.
We're all decked out for Valentine's Day and can offer you some lovely gifts as well as a fresh stock of sumptuous new books that might be perfect for your valentine.
With temps up into the high 60's and pushing 70 those of us from snowy northern climes are doubly grateful about being here to help you with book suggestions! We've met a mob of snowbirds lately--all happy to be heading south on Route 19.
For those who missed Gwen Roland's world premiere book signing at the store for her novel
Postmark Bayou Chene, she will be presenting a talk and signing books at the Griffin Library this Saturday--it's a great opportunity to hear how her wonderful characters came to be--if you go, say "hi" Jewell who will be at the entrance selling the book.
One more note--after a long drought of unobtainable coloring pencils for all those adult coloring books, we now have a supply! Sorry for the stress!
And, our own postmark--we loved the Knitters show this past month--thank you all for displaying your work. Please consider doing another show next January when just the look of the rich, nubby, soft, colorful patterns in your pieces warmed our hearts!
