Two "can't miss" events ...
Understanding Muslim Communities at Home and Abroad -- a Town Hall Discussion
an event in collaboration with the Colorado Springs World Affairs Council
Thursday, February 18, doors open at 4:30pm, event from 5:30pm-7:30pm
Ivywild Schoolhouse
***please note that the event location has changed

In recent months, the rhetoric in our national and international conversations about Islam and the Muslim community has at times reached a fever pitch. Radicalism within the Islamic world-like radicalism in other segments of humanity-is a genuine concern because it threatens indiscriminate violence. But in an atmosphere of fear and misapprehension, it is easy to focus on equally indiscriminate threats and overlook the human reality and the people of those communities.

Join us for this Town Hall - a conversation, not lectures, moderated by World Affairs Council President @Sky Foerster. Bring your questions & concerns - engage with our panelists, who offer a breadth of expertise and experience with Muslim communities at home and abroad.

This will be a wonderful evening that you won't want to miss!

Caucuses, Primaries, Conventions, Oh My!
Happy Hour Event- Thursday, February 25, 5:30pm-7:30pm

Join Citizens Project and Colorado Common Cause for a happy hour event on Thursday, February 25 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Old Chicago on Austin Bluffs/Academy for a lively nonpartisan interactive conversation about how we choose our nominees. Have you ever asked yourself:

How is a caucus different from a primary?
Is one system better than the other?
What system do we use in Colorado?
Am I eligible to participate? If so, where do I go?
What's the big deal about Iowa and New Hampshire?

We will have a brief presentation to get the discussion going and then engage in questions.

Representatives from each party have been invited to come and be available to answer questions regarding procedural and process questions directly related to the parties.

Colorado Legislative Session
This season's legislative session is in full swing and we at Citizens Project are busy monitoring important bills relating to equality, diversity, and separation of church and state. The Citizens Project board has already voted to
support HB16-1185 which would make it easier for transgender individuals to change the gender marker on their birth certificates. Additionally, Citizens Project has taken a position  against SB16-1112 which would decrease the number of voter service stations available during elections.
Know that Citizens Project is watching these bills and many more bills and will let YOU know when to make your voice heard to affect change in Colorado.

Welcomes New Board Members
This year we are thrilled to have six new board members joining the Citizens Project team. They each bring a unique perspective and lots of enthusiasm to Citizens Project. Incoming board members are Rev. Norm Bouchard, Andrew Hershberger, Lisa Kemppainen, Michael Pearlmutter, Cynthia Nimerichter, and Jan Tanner.

We owe a debt of gratitude to those who have completed their service on the board. Many thanks to Amy Dinofrio, Connie Dudgeon, Gail Johnson, Bob Miner, Brinah Vincent, and Heather Zambrano.
