From the Library Administrator

Library staff members started the new year with an in-service where we continued our training for the new SWAN catalog system which will be released in April. We also conducted preparations for the upcoming renovation of the library, and celebrated the service of ten dedicated staff members: 10 years: Ruta Jancys, John Mangoba, Alex Mitre, Pat Ondrovic, Rose Velkovich. 15 years: Judi Borowy, Sharada Kamath, and Cindy Tardy-Jones 20 years: Beth Van Opdorp 25 years: Patsy Horner
For over a decade February has marked the beginning of a multi-library program: The Big Read. This year The Big Read has been transformed into a new program: ReDiscover. Rather than focusing on a single novel, ReDiscover centers great programs around a single theme. ReDiscover: Celebrating Home is this year's official theme and programs will take place in March and April. A ReDiscover book discussion (featuring a novel chosen from a variety of titles) will be held at each participating library. Program guides will be available at Re-Discover.org and at the Library starting February 15. Reserve your spot for movies, cooking demonstartions, book discussions, musical performances, and lectures at Re-Discover.org/events beginning March 2.
Consider participating in the 2015 Great Decisions program which will be meeting Tuesday mornings at the Woodridge Public Library over the next two months. Topics representing the most pressing global issues or troubled regions have been chosen by the Great Decisions editorial staff who are dedicated to inspiring the American public to learn more about our world. Contact moderator Meg Kadlec ( [email protected]) for more information. Evening sessions will be held at the Downers Grove Public Library.

Twenty-four members of Woodridge Library's Group Of Advising Teens took over the Library on Saturday, January 17 for an evening of crafts, challenges and competition. The teens were under the supervision of the innovative and enthusiastic Miss Beth and Miss Jeanne.
