Calgarians marked UN Interfaith Harmony Week February 1-7 with a series of fascinating opportunities for dialogue and learning. The opening ceremonies on February 1 featured our own Sidney Cyngiser and Mikayla Seidman , who spoke about the importance of passing on tradition from generation to generation.The event is organized by the Interfaith Council of Calgary , co-chaired by Rabbi Shaul Osadchey and Rev. Dr. Danielle Ayana James.
One of Federation's local interfaith events is Hillel Calgary 's annual Avi Shabbat , a dinner for students and young adults that brings together people of all faiths and backgrounds. This year's event on February 23 is sponsored by CIJA and the Avi Schaefer Fund .
Federation is proud to partner with Jewish Family Service Calgary to once again present L'Dor V'Dor – Sharing Our Memories , a luncheon to give young adults the opportunity to hear the stories of local Holocaust Survivors. This program on March 11 is one of the initiatives made possible by a grant from the HRDC - New Horizons for Seniors Program . Other events include presentations at the United McDougal Church , and at the Crowfoot and Village Square Libraries .
