CEO Message to the Community
Friend!

Good morning.

We went to press with the 2018-2019 edition of Shalom DELAWARE on Monday, our annual Jewish community guide to life in Delaware and the Brandywine Valley. Printed copies will be mailed after the July 4th holiday and additional copies will also be available throughout the Jewish community campus and in the Federation office. In advance of the printed edition, please click here to access the digital edition through our community portal at ShalomDelaware.org.

On Tuesday, I spoke with our Partnership2Gether team in Arad, Israel, to further discuss collaborative programming as well as meet the Jewish Agency for Israel's new Southern District Partnership Director, Orit Elkayam Cohen. JCRC Director Rabbi Ellen Bernhardt addressed the Senate in Dover on Tuesday afternoon to thank them for unanimously supporting a resolution for Israel's 70th, co-sponsored by Senators Bushweller and Lavelle. Congregation Beth Sholom's Rabbi Peggy deProphetis was also in attendance to support the resolution.

Our PJ Library Committee met on Wednesday morning to assist in scheduling our programming calendar. This successful family engagement program brings free books and music of Jewish content every month to children ages six months to eleven years of age. We have 437 active subscriptions in Delaware and the Brandywine Valley (and growing)!

The Jewish Community Campus was in full swing Wednesday night for the Siegel JCC's Member Appreciation Night. It was a true evening of celebration and community building.

We Grow Stronger TOGETHER.

Shabbat Shalom ,

Chief Executive Officer

REMINDER: Garden of Eden Road will be closed for about 60 days, starting Thursday (June 28th)
DelDOT has announced that Garden of Eden Road will be closed for approximately 60 days for the construction of Columbia Place.
DelDOT has stated that the closure of Garden of Eden Road between Taunton Road and U.S. 202 is scheduled to go into effect at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 28th and continue until Friday, August 24th, pending weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

During the roadway construction, Reybold Construction Group, LLC will be relocating utilities, improving the roadway, and constructing a commercial entrance/exit. This construction is associated with the Columbia Place development.
DelDOT says the entrance to the Jewish Community Center (JCC) on Garden of Eden Road will remain open and accessible via U.S. 202.

According to the Reybold Group, the closure was intended to start the week of June 22nd. However, in order to accommodate the JCC for an event they have planned, Reybold says the start of the closure has been delayed until June 28th.

Jerome Heisler with the Reybold Group also states: "The closure of Garden of Eden Road is due to the fact that it will be a construction site. There will be no access onto or around or through this area for safety reasons. That includes each day of the week, day and night, and the weekends. I care to be safe and therefore, we will not permit people to pass through or around the site."

For any questions about the closure or detour information, please contact the Reybold Group at 302-388-6712.
