In 2015, the community raised an unprecedented 4.2 million meals in that year's Holiday Food Drive. It was such an accomplishment that we thought we shouldn't stretch 2016's goal too much further.

Yet we knew that 1 in 5 local residents face hunger or food insecurity, and this year's co-chairs believed we could reach more of the children, elderly, working poor, and others around the county without enough to eat. So we set the goal at 4.5 million meals and got to work.

Our food drive co-chairs, Dominican CEO Dr. Nan Mickiewicz and Farm Bureau Executive Director Jess Brown, rallied and organized, and many of you co-ordinated drives in schools, businesses, churches, neighborhoods, clubs, and the like, and many others donated food and funds.

The hard work paid off and together, we reached that 4.5 million meal goal for a grand total of 4,513,399 meals!

Second Harvest thanks everyone who contributed in any way, and we look forward to recognizing all the efforts at our Annual Awards Dinner on March 8 (see Upcoming Events).
