As this anniversary approaches, I have reflected on the firm's two decades of accomplishments, growth and enduring traits. While tools and methodologies have evolved, our commitment to providing our clients with the highest level of service, integrity, and professionalism, remains constant.

Penalties for noncompliance with new HIPAA rules could cost you tens of thousands of dollars in penalties - fines are going up, and HHS enforcement is getting more aggressive. Don't get caught unaware! 

 

Learn more about the HIPAA Omnibus Rule, which went into effect on September 23, 2013. The rule expands many of HIPAA's privacy and security requirements to business associates of covered entities and expands individual rights and protections. The new rule also changes breach notification requirements and increases penalties for non-compliance.

New York's Internet System for Tracking Over-Prescribing (I-STOP) requires the online Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) to be updated in real time, so practitioners and pharmacists have quick access to accurate and timely prescription drug histories for patients.

 

Practitioners must now consult the PMP and review a patient's prescription drug history before prescribing any Schedule II, III or IV controlled substance.
