Marty recently made us proud by winning a ribbon for her crocheted hat in the Annual Cultural Arts Exhibit at the Extension Office.  She insists she owes it all to Fiber Frenzy!  Now, we all know she is just being modest, but  Spring is the perfect time to learn a  new craft and you can be a winner too.   Judy will teach you to knit or to crochet, whichever suits  your fancy.  Call to set up the perfect time for you on  Mondays or Tuesdays.  Only $20 per lesson, but you will  need to purchase a hook or needles or bring yours with you.  Learning yarn is provided for you.

Spring inspires us all to get out the summer clothes and start an exercise or walk program to get in better shape than the winter left us.  Water is an integral part of any fitness program, so why not crochet a bottle holder to hang your water on your body or treadmill, or bicycle, etc. This is a fast project with a fashionable, useful end result.  Saturday, May 5th or May 19th at 1 pm.   $20 class fee includes the yarn for several water bottle holders.   Size F crochet hook used.

Magic loop knitting is quickly becoming Judy's method of choice, replacing DPNs for most projects.  Learn  this great technique while knitting a glass cozy that will keep your hands dry when drinking an icy beverage this summer.  $20 class fee includes the yarn for several glass cozies.  Make a set for your friends too.  Size 5 circular knitting needle, length 32" or 40".  Saturday, May 5th or May 19th, 3 pm.

Knit knockers every first and third Tuesday, this month May 1st and 15th.  But really any Tuesday afternoon you will probably find other knocker knitters sitting around our big table.  If you need help getting started on your first pair,  just let us know.  The methods of choice are DPNs, magic loop, or crochet.  This is not for the beginner knitter, but an experienced knitter will have no problem  learning the techniques.  Size 4 or 5 knitting needles are used, or size F or G crochet hook.  You pay $10 for the yarn to make your first pair of knockers, and after that the yar n is provided for you, thanks to a grant received from Baptist Hospital.

Mountain Colors put together a new cowl pattern and kit
with Twizzle yarn in
three coordinating colorways.  Judy finished hers and it is absolutely beautiful.  This could be a beautiful Christmas gift for someone special this year, so drop in and get your kit right away.  Judy will help you start yours on Friday, May 4th at 2 pm.

Cap Sleeve KAL starts  May 10 !  Using Purl Soho's "Cap Sleeve Lattice Top" as a starting point, join in this great KAL with Joan on Thursdays beginning at  3:00 .  Want to vary from the pattern by knitting in the round instead of flat? We'll help with that!  Want to do color blocks? We'll help with that!  Intarsia on an angle? We'll help with that too!  This is a nice basic pattern for a summer weight top that can be personalized to suit your personality!  There is no fee for the KAL, but purchase of yarn is required.  We have many from which to choose!

Sock Club?  We have had great fun with new sock knitters, and are considering a sock club.  The idea is to get together informally on Friday afternoons and work on the latest sock project.  We all learn from the hive - this could bee a nice opportunity to gather pointers from others who share your love of socks, or for you to share your tips and tricks with others.  Let's give it a try Fridays from 3:00 - 5:00 through May and see what happens!

Spinning Day --  May 12.
Schedule your private spinning lesson
with Jessica from 2 - ?  Bring your
spindle or wheel or WIP and spin yarns with friends old and new.  All are welcome.  Many folks bring a dish to share - if you feel inclined you will find a receptive audience.  On
May 12 - call ahead to schedule at noon or 1:00.  These lessons will help you take your spinning to the next level or get you started on the right foot.  And remember, when Jessica is in the house, Jessica's Creations yarn and spinning fibers are 20% off!

Here's a sweet little crocheted baby kimono!  One
ball of Babe Jazz is plenty to complete this wrap jacket for little ones.  No buttons, it is easy on and off with a side tie.  Jessica will get you started on  May 12 at 2:00 .  Class fee is $20; yarn is separate.
