  NEEDLE/YARN TASTING TIME

Join us on Tuesday evening, June 27th at 5 pm to taste new needles and yarn.  Bryson has sent us some of their best needles to try out, and Plymouth Yarn is providing several new yarns that we have not seen before to test drive.  This is always a fun evening, so bring a friend and
plan t o have a good time!   There will be several door prizes, and each participant will go home with a new needle or ball of yarn!   Tickets are $5 if purchased in advance, and $7.50 at the door.  One lucky ticket holder will receive a $50 Fiber Frenzy gift certificate drawn at the close of the tasting.

June is a time to practice new skills on small projects.  After a fun day in the garden or on the golf course, settle into your favorite chair with a cool beverage and try something new.

You've mastered knit and purl, how about trying your first triangular scarf?  The Concerto scarf is a perfect first shaping project, with plenty of practice for yarn over increases, then finishes with a pretty picot edge.  This quick project is perfect for on the go knitting.  One ball of Kid Cotton Ombre - or other nice cotton or cotton blend yarn - and size 5, 32" circular needle and 4 stitch markers is all you need.  Cast on with Joan  June 2 at 11:00, then follow up  June 30 at 11:00 to learn the picot bind off.  Class fee is $20, or free with purchase of yarn!

There are many ways to increase the number of stitches. Each one looks different. Knowing which one to use when can make all the difference in your work.  Explore increases with Joan on  June 1 at 2:00 p.m.  Bring your favorite solid color worsted weight yarn and size 7 or 8 needles. Class fee is $20.

And decreases also come in many forms.  Learn the ins and outs of decreases with Joan on  June 8 at 2:00.  Bring your favorite solid color worsted weight yarn and size 7 or 8 needles.  Class fee is $20.

Ready for a new sock pattern?  Hermoine's Everyday Socks are a nice cuff down, heel flap design that works well with solid or patterning sock yarn.  Choose a great yarn from our large selection and cast on with Joan at  2:00 on  June 9.  The class continues every Friday for 4 weeks as you work step by step through the sock architecture.  You'll also need size 1 DPNs or 2 - size 1 24" circular needles if you prefer that method.  Class fee is $40, or FREE with the purchase of yarn for the class.

Summit Hill is a lovely crocheted cowl made with fingering weight yarn and a size F or G crochet hook.  We are using Mirasol Khusku, a blend of wool and bamboo for this project, and the resulting fabric is sure to please!  Class fee of $45 includes the yarn and pattern, but not the hook.  The finished cowl looks like a knitted garment, but takes half the time to make! A perfect pattern to make over and over for gifts.   Monday, June 12th at 2 pm, and again on Tuesday, June 27th at 2 pm.

Here's a sweet little project that illustrates two techniques, the Simple
Steek Mug Cozy! First, master stranded or fair isle knitting to create a great design
when knit ting in the round. You will need size 5 and 7 needles, either double point or 32"  circular if you prefer magic loop.  The project requires only 35 yards of the main
color,  and less than 5 yards each of 2 contrasting colors.  The class is 2 sessions.  The first session, on  June 15 at 3:00 p.m.  will focus on stranded knitting, especially
holding two yarns at the same time.  The second session is  June 22 at 3:00  when we will steek the cozy, by reinforcing and cutting a vertical opening.   Bring your yarn and pay only a class fee of $40, or purchase the main color and the class is free!

Join Judy on Tuesday, June 20th at 2 pm, and again on Monday, June 26th at 2 pm to knit a lacy scarf with Online Supersocke Cotton yarn and size 6 or 7 needles.  This is a quick lace project that you will enjoy knitting.  Class fee of $40 includes yarn and pattern, but not the needles.

Crochet or Knit Knockers Join us the first and third Tuesday every month, 3 to 5 pm to make knockers.   KK approved yarn is available at a discount. Judy will gladly help you start your first knit or crochet knocker.   June 6th and 20th.

Color My World, literally!  Explore a variety of dyeing techniques using acid dyes to create your unique hank of sock yarn - enough for a pair of socks or a great scarf or shawlette.  Class fee of $20 does NOT include yarn, which is an additional $18. You can do multiple hanks for the class fee, just purchase additional yarn.
