October 2016

Two by Two by Nicholas Sparks releases tomorrow, but unfortunately we are not getting him for an event this year. I have a request in for signed stock if there is any extra leftover after his events but I won't know one way or the other for another week or two. In the meantime, stop by tomorrow for an unsigned copy or reply back and ask to be notified if we get any signed ones.

Our fall event schedule is filling up and we hope you'll take advantage of it as signed books make great holiday gifts!

Deep Run Roots Deep Run Roots: Stories and Recipes from My Corner of the South by Vivian Howard
Ten years ago, Vivian opened Chef and the Farmer and put the nearby town of Kinston on the culinary map. But in a town paralyzed by recession, Vivian couldn't hop on every culinary trend. Instead, she focused on rural development: If you grew it, she'd buy it. Inundated by local sweet potatoes, blueberries, shrimp, pork, and beans, Vivian learned to cook the way generations of Southerners before her had, relying on resourcefulness, creativity, and preservation. Deep Run Roots is the result of those years of effort to discover the riches of Carolina country cooking. This landmark work of American food writing gives richness and depth to a cuisine that has been overlooked for far too long.

Today Will Be Different Today Will Be Different by Maria Semple
Eleanor knows she's a mess. But today, she will tackle the little things. She will shower and get dressed. She will have her poetry and yoga lessons after dropping off her son, Timby. She won't swear. She will initiate sex with her husband, Joe. But before she can put her modest plan into action -- life happens. Today, it turns out, is the day Timby has decided to fake sick to weasel his way into his mother's company. It's also the day Joe has chosen to tell his office -- but not Eleanor -- that he's on vacation. Just when it seems like things can't go more awry, an encounter with a former colleague produces a graphic memoir whose dramatic tale threatens to reveal a buried family secret.
