Urban Leadership Program Kicks Off
|
|
Fielding signed a memorandum of understanding with the leaders of Tulane University and the University of District of Columbia (UDC) to develop a degree program together in urban leadership and entrepreneurship. Conferred by UDC with certain courses and expertise provided by Fielding faculty, the program will be based on Fielding’s proven doctoral model for transformative education, with online learning opportunities, periodic national and regional residencies, and cluster meetings in Washington, D.C., and New Orleans, as well as individualized academic mentoring from faculty. This new partnership was made possible by Fielding Trustee Leonard Haynes, who introduced us to the leaders of UDC and Tulane.
Faculty member Lenneal Henderson will help develop the curriculum while Orlando Taylor, Fielding’s vice president for strategic initiatives and research, is helping to create a local advisory group of distinguished leaders in the DC area.

Monique Snowden, vice president of institutional planning and effectiveness, met actors and longtime buddies Felix Justice (left) and Danny Glover in Minneapolis last month at the annual meeting of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
On the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1968 assassination, Glover and Justice delivered the meeting’s closing plenary, a conversation on moral courage — and whether it can be taught in the educational system. The meeting marked the completion of Dr. Snowden's three-year appointment to the AACRAO board of directors, as vice president for access and equity.
