More Changes are Afloat!

Some people do a spring cleaning when the weather gets warmer but my husband and I just move!  April brought move number 20 and even though I LOVE our current place, I'm convinced that it was built by a guy without ANY input from a woman.

It has NO coat closet, NO linen closet, and NO pantry.   I know... for an organizer these were tough pills to swallow.  And even though it has separate closets for my clothes and Brent's, they aren't walk in.  So.... I've been forced to take desperate measures.  Our food lives in the cupboard above the washer and dryer (which are in the kitchen so at least it's handy.)  Our towels are rolled up in a cute little rolling cart from Ikea and our coats are in the guest bedroom closet.  Not ideal, but it works.

Anyway, I write this all to say that sometimes you have to work within the parameters of your home.  Probably my least favorite organizing product is the over the door shoe hanger.  I always thought it made closets feel claustrophobic and a bit messy but now that I have it up, I like it.  I also had to resort to this "little black dress" because my old dresser was too big for the room.  The good news is that I got to create a little dresser in my closet and it works just fine.

What's the point of this whole diatribe?  Um....hang on.  Something will come to me!  I think it's that there is no "one size fits all" when it comes to organizing and challenges can give you the chance to be creative.

News You Can Use

Yikes is changing it's pricing structure and going to concentrate on package deals. This allows me to give a better price (and more benefits) to those who commit to Yikes long term.

For my current clients, if you buy a package of ANY size (9-27 hours) you can still get the reduced price of $45.00/hr.  These packages must be bought and paid for by June 30.  Packages are good until 6/30/17.  Please call me for more details...
Makeover of the Month

In April a bunch of us from NAPO Nashville teamed up with Goodwill and did a garage rescue for a lady in Franklin.  She's an artist who had been disabled from a fall so we really wanted her garage to be useable to do her mixed media art projects.  We spent the weekend sorting and purging and, in the end, she had a great space.  It was a win-win for everyone!  And truthfully, I can't say enough good things about my fellow organizers in Nashville.  We have teamed up on other projects and they have always gone really well.

It's Always Something...

Since we just moved I thought this cartoon was appropriate!

About Yikes Organizing

I wish I could say that I've always wanted to be a professional organizer but the truth is that I'm a late bloomer.  I didn't start writing until my thirties and didn't start Yikes until my forties.  I like changing things up and one day realized I had the ideal background for this kind of work.  For one thing we have six kids (no that isn't a typo) and have moved 16 times!  I have lived in really big houses and really small apartments.  I've hoarded (only baby clothes, but still) and I've purged.  But I did finally come to realize what many of you already know...  "Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans." :)

Obviously organizing isn't rocket science but sometimes you need help getting started or the accountability that an organizer provides.  That's what Yikes Organizing is all about.  We will get you from "good grief" to "gorgeous" or at the very least from "disaster" to "delightful."
