Going BIGGER for Gulu - Love in Action

Psalm 115:1 says that we give God all the glory because of His great love and faithfulness! Because of his great love and faithfulness, we are also called to show his love to the world. This year, we are excited to put that love into action by, once again, partnering with Christ the Center Ministries in Gulu, Uganda. Last year we partnered with CTCM to help them build a new middle school. Because of the generosity of our parents and students, and because of God's faithfulness, we were honored to raise $25,000 throughout the school year to not only build two classrooms but to support a feeding program as well. God used our school community in tremendous ways and we are excited to join with our brothers and sisters in Gulu again through this school year!

This year our goal will be to help the school build their own chapel and auditorium. This building is important to the life and community of our school, and it will be for theirs too! Together, as we put God's love in action, we can help bring them closer to providing a great chapel space and auditorium for the students in Gulu! We are excited to see how God will use us this year for His glory!

Please enjoy the below video from our friends in GULU.

New Elementary Students - Lunch With the Principal

Greetings New MCS Families,

I wanted to thank you for joining our MCS family. It was my pleasure to have lunch with your children this week in order to get to know them personally and continue to support a successful transition into our program. We spent time talking about some of the reasons they love being a student here at MCS. Here are just a few of my favorite quotes from your children that I thought you'd enjoy:
  • "I love that we can study the Bible here at MCS and pray together."
  • "I love my teacher and our classroom, it is so much fun to be at this school."
  • "I like the Specialist classes, and the Learning Commons is my favorite place." (Art, Music, Media Explorer, Technology, Spanish, and PE.)
  • "I like my new friends!"
It's a true blessing to have your children here and to get to know them. We are grateful to partner with you in building a firm foundation through Christ Centered education.

Reggie Biancalani
Elementary Principal

First Elementary Chapel

Mr. Moore kicked off our first chapels of the year with our theme, "Made to Glorify." He challenged us to give God our "first fruits" best each day by deciding to CHOOSE to read God's Word and to have a conversation with Him each day.

To help us begin to think about what it means to glorify God in our daily lives, Mr. Moore gave us a few synonyms for the word "glorify,"  and he found an especially cool one that fits MCS perfectly!
PARENTS: Be sure to ask your child about this word. Hint: it has something to do with our mascot!

Congratulations to 8th Grader Anna Eddy

Congratulations to 8th grader, Anna Eddy! Anna's art, "Candy" (painted in 7th grade art), was not only selected to hang in the Orange County Dept. of Ed's "1,000 Pieces of Art" exhibit at South Coast Plaza (May 5th-22nd, 2016 ), BUT, was also chosen to hang in the Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts Junior Exhibit!!!

Her art was on display throughout the summer months at the 84th Laguna Beach "Festival of the Arts Junior Exhibit". Over 6,500 entries were received for this contest from both private and public schools across Orange County. Anna's painting was one of only twelve 7th grade paintings chosen at the end of the school year (2016) to hang in the exhibit (art is juried by a panel of professional artists from Orange County).

Her painting will now travel to the Orange County Department of Education to be on display for the fall and a reception honoring the artists will be held in December.

We are so proud of you Anna - you are Glorifying God with your talents!

"Being God's Telescope" by Heather Harrison

Fall Kick-Off Chapel 2016-2017

Our first middle school chapel held on September 9th was nothing short of dynamic!!!  The worship band brought the house down and prepared our hearts to hear God's message.  We invite you to listen as God spoke His truth directly through our Middle School Principal Heather Harrison.  We encourage you to follow up with your child at home and ask them which areas of their life God is asking them to be His telescope.  How can they reveal God to those in their world?  This is a chapel we plan to build upon throughout the year, as we aspire understand the full concept of what it means that we were "Made to Glorify!"
