Concert/Movie Event is this Friday, August 17!
Our third and final concert/movie event for the summer will take place on Friday, August 17, beginning at 7 p.m. outdoors at the La Vista Public Library, 9110 Giles Rd., on the north side of the building. 

The band Blue House will take the stage at 7 p.m. and will play until 9 p.m. After that we'll show the movie Jumanji, the 2017 release. 

Also, the Library's Think, Make, Create Mobile Makerspace Lab will be on site with fun activities for the kids!

GED Program
Did you know the La Vista Public Library offers a GED program year-round? Classes meet Tuesday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and include basic computer training.

This is a drop-in program, students can attend as needed in preparation for the official GED tests. Registration is required and space is limited.

Punt, Pass & Kick Contest on Saturday, August 25

Sarpy County Tourism, the La Vista Recreation Department and the Papillion-La Vista Optimist Club is sponsoring a free Punt, Pass & Kick contest at the La Vista Sports Complex, south of 66th and Harrison.

Girls and boys will compete in the following age divisions (as of 12/31/18): 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15. The winner of each age division will be determined by the cumulative score of the three skills - punting, passing and kicking. Winners will qualify for the state competition on Sunday, October 14, at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln!

Registration Open for Pump & Run and 5K
Edge Body Boot Camp and the City of La Vista have teamed up once again for the 3rd Annual Edge Body Pump & Run and 5k.

The Pump & Run is a unique combination of weight lifting and running, offered to all racers, no matter gender or ability. Pump & Run participants will compete in a bench press competition, as well as a 5k run.

Don't lift weights? Don't worry runners, we have you covered too! We will also be offering the 5k as a separate event to those who just want to run and not participate in the bench press competition.

Racers will receive a custom designed dri-fit shirt, one free Infusion beer (for those 21 & over), pizza, soda & water, and a post-race party.

The Coed Youth Volleyball program provides a fun, safe recreational league in an instructional environment where the youth of the community can enjoy the sport of volleyball. Our teams participate in the Bellevue Junior Sports Youth Volleyball League.

Coed Soccer Clinic

The soccer clinic is comprised of 5 one hour sessions to be held on Saturday mornings from 11:30 AM - 12:30 AM at the La Vista Community Center starting on September 8 and ending on October 6.  This is a parent participation clinic designed to teach the basic fundamentals of soccer while having fun.
 
Soccer Academy and League
Focusing on different soccer skills to develop each player with individual attention and maximum ball touches. Sessions are twice a week for five weeks - academy training/practices Tuesdays with games on Saturdays.
 
The 4/5 Soccer Academy & 6/7 League will begin on Tuesday, September 4and end on Saturday, October 6. The 4/5's meet on Tuesdays from 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM; 6/7's from 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM. On Saturdays, the 4/5's meet from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM; 6/7's from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. All sessions will take place at the La Vista Sports Complex. 
 
Academy

Women's Volleyball

Matches are held on Wednesday evenings at the La Vista Community Center, tentatively beginning September 19 and ending December 12.

League Fee: $120 per team
Forfeit Fee: $20 (separate check required at time of registration)
Referee Fee: $10 (paid in cash) by each team before each game.

*Must pay registration fee and forfeit fee before registration will be accepted. Must be 18 and out of high school.
