|Final Friday - Illustrations by Sarah Rocheleau|
Sarah Rocheleau is a graduate of the Art Academy here in Cincinnati. We've had her "Gazing Ball" paper sculptures, housed in locally made glass globes, for a while and we love them, but tomorrow we will be hanging a small show of Sarah's watercolor illustrations as well.
Each piece is an idyllic scene rendered in the manner of commercial illustrations from the 1940's and 50's, but with giant bugs. The bright colors "imply both a blithe optimism and affected innocence", says Sarah. "The size of the insects and the human companions seeming obliviousness to the absurdity of the situation is meant to imbue the scene with a tension."
Join us this Final Friday, the 28th, from 6 - 9 pm for a glass of wine and a look at this new work by Sarah.

New work from Susan Whitaker Duncan, long awaited ceramics, (mugs and plate sets) by Shelley Klein of K Studio, tons of French toys (musical & otherwise), block sets from Uncle Goose, and so many new t shirts, pullovers, and dresses from Supermaggie & Poketo, that we don't have enough hangers to hang them all.

Festival & Events:
Cincinnati has an amazing architectural history, a collection of strong cultural and arts institutions, and world-class design education. These entities are each individually excellent, and now there is an event that brings them all together, a critical mass of architecturally focused events over the course of a week. This event is called ArchiNATI and will run from September 28th - October 6th. Click that link to find more info.
It's Final Friday! And many of the Final Friday venues are kicking off FOTOFOCUS with special photography based shows. Check out shows at 1305 Gallery, Iris Book Cafe and Park + Vine, to list a few. Here at MiCA, we have Flash Level access passes for sale. For 25.00 this pass gets you general admission into the Opening Party on October 5th, and invitations to all the members only exhibition openings and lectures at participating venues. 100% of the proceeds of the pass purchase goes to Fotofocus.
