Finalists for the 4th Annual Phyllis Richards
 Austin Icon for Children Award

 

Austin Child Guidance Center announces the Finalists for the 4th Annual Phyllis Richards Austin Icon for Children Award.

 

This distinguished award will be presented on September 26th at the Austin Originals Benefit Concert and Live Taping at the Austin Music Hall.
Finalists for the Community Activist category are the following:

 

Shirley Hartmann, M.ED. for her "Legacy of Giving" work that has encouraged hundreds of students to strive to make the world a better place through education, volunteering, fundraising and raising awareness on various issues.  Her work has inspired a legacy of future philanthropists that will help make the world and our community a better place.

 

Milton Verret for his outstanding accomplishments in raising funds for children in need. The Milton Verret Supporting Children's Charities of Austin has raised millions for local charities, like Dell Children's Hospital, Austin Children's Shelter, Make a Wish Foundation and more.  His guiding principal is that abundance be directed toward the most vulnerable-children.

 

Mary Wilbur for her commitment and philanthropic efforts to support abused children received at the Center for Child Protection.  Mary serves as the Chair of the Center's Tomorrows Child Legacy Foundation, was an essential driving force in the capital campaign, was Chair of the Building Committee, and was inducted into the Center's Founding Class of the Friends of Christopher Guild.

 

Finalists for the Community Professional Category are the following:

 

Nancy Rosenau, PhD is the Executive Director and one of the principle founders of, EveryChild Inc., which provides a system of support for families to provide alternatives to institutional placement of children with developmental disabilities.  She is a renowned international teacher, consultant and published writer on disability services. Her belief is that every child should have a loving home to grow up in.

 

Robin Rosell, MSSW, LCSW, LMFT for her outstanding work as Director of Behavioral Health & Social Services at People's Community Clinic. She envisioned and developed the multi-agency collaborative TANDEM Teen Prenatal and Parenting Program that has worked with hundreds of underserved expected teen parents through the provision of primary and behavioral health.

 

Lisa Tate for her dedication to improving the lives of children with disabilities.  She currently is an Easter Seals National spokesperson for Autism and a Speech Pathologist working for RiverKids Pediatrics. She was the Director of Early Childhood Intervention Program for Easter Seals Central Texas, serving hundreds of kids with disabilities and developmental delays annually.
