Walk for Kids

Walk for Kids-Get Involved

This year's Walk for Kids is taking on a new look! We are gearing up and heading to the park! The Walk for Kids will take place on Saturday, May 5 from 11 - 1 p.m. at Silver Springs Park, Heritage Barn, Stow (5238 Young Road, Stow, 44224). OPEN M is excited to share with everyone all the great amenities the park has to offer while addressing the reason we are raising money, the kids. A park is a wonderful place for kids, adults, and families of all sizes to come and spend time together. Support systems, like families and friends are a big part of everyone's life and it is important to promote family time together.

OPEN M is looking to reach out to kids in a new holistic way with new programs and curriculum.  OPEN M encourages you to get your group involved with the Walk for Kids by either hosting a fundraising event, sponsoring the event, getting a walk team together, start a friendly competition between departments or offering a matching programs as an incentive for your group to give back! Below are ideas of how your group can get involved with the 2012 Walk for Kids and truly make a difference to the children in our community.

Getting Ahead Graduates

Getting Ahead is a class offered through Bridges Out of Poverty to help those living in poverty. OPEN M has had the opportunity to bring 96 individuals through this program and graduate. The class meets twice weekly for 8 weeks. During the classes, the investigators learn about social classes, communication, resources and much more! They also get to investigate poverty and set goals for themselves that will help them reach stability. After the 8 weeks is over we have a graduation for the 12 investigators and ask everyone to give a speech and talk about their thoughts on Getting Ahead, what they have learned, what they would like to do differently, and their goals. Please see below quotes from Getting Ahead Class 8 investigators. We are so proud of each and every one of them and know they will do great things in the future!
