HS Theatre

Theatre 3/4 students have been experiencing an exciting unit on "Food as Props."  Students were asked to choose a play or musical that has food in it and then to create that food from items that are not perishable. If a show is running for years and years can you imagine the cost of providing real food for each production?  Almost all food you see in shows is fake, unless an actor actually needs to eat it.  Then only the small part the actor eats is real.

Here we have some students showing off their completed projects:

Brian and Abi with their freshly grilled steak from the meal for the Beast and Belle in "Beauty and the Beast" and Sammie and Maria with their awesome chocolate cake from "Matilda the Musical."

LS Music News

For the newsletter this month, we have several pictures instead of a blurb!

3 pics from the Lower School Chorus debut singing the National Anthem at the September 29 Volleyball games... students from our LS Chorus sang for all 3 games and stayed to cheer on the teams! Much fun was had by all.

Grades K-5 celebrated World Peace Day on September 21 by standing up for PEACE together as grade levels during their Encore classes. Students K-2 are completing a Peace Book for each of their classrooms and students in grades 3-5 completed a Post it for Peace as part of our Peace Reflections this year in music classes.

Last 3 pics are of our Peace Reflection wall outside the LS Music room!

8th Grade Name Project

P ine Lake Prep would like to highlight what an amazing job the 8th grade did on their "Name Project".  The focus of this project was that each letter was to be  turned into an object that starts with the same letter.
These illustrations are currently on display on the second floor art gallery in the Fine Arts Building.

6th Grade Art

I n 6th grade visual arts the students have been exploring design with using their name. The students finished up a mirror image cut out with complementary colors and are now working on a mirror image name design where they have filled each shape with patterns that represent their interest and hobbies. Through these projects the students have been learning about the Elements of Art and the Prin ciples of Design. They have also been introduced to the artist M.C. Escher, Henri Matisse, and Piet Mondrian who are known for using patterns in their works.
