Join Slow Food Seattle on Sunday, July 28th as we take a summer road trip to Finnriver -a 33 acre organic family farm in Chimacum, on the north Olympic Peninsula of Washington. Our group will enjoy a private cidery tour and tasting, woodfired pizza and potluck, and the option to get our hands dirty in the soil in exchange for access to ripe, organic blueberries! ($2.99 per lb)
More about our host:
Finnriver plays an active part in the Pacific Northwest craft cider revival, committed to handcrafting both traditional and innovative ciders with a base of 100% apple juice, sourced primarily from organic PNW farms, including their own. They craft a line-up of 500 ml hard ciders at 6.5% abv., with varieties that include Dry Hopped, Sparkling Black Currant, and Sparkling Pear ciders, as well as unique seasonal line of botanical hard ciders and several new releases in 22 oz bottles including Habanero, Farmstead, and Fire Barrel.
Finnriver is certified salmon safe and committed to wise land stewardship through organic agriculture, conservation easements, alternative energy, habitat restoration, community education and more.
They recently won the 2012 Edible Seattle Local Heroes Artisan Beverage award as well as many others, and have garnered numerous accolades and acclaim.
We are looking forward to getting to know the folks behind Finnriver, and they are looking forward to hosting us!
This is an outdoor, family friendly event (sorry, no dogs please),so please plan for the elements, and bring a change of work clothes and gloves if interested in the optional blueberry weeding service project. Questions? Please contact info@slowfoodseattle.org. Thanks and hope you'll join us!
