At the end of 2016 we announced our partnership with Agnes Scott College to build a new forever home for Charis Books and Charis Circle. We're excited to share the first photos with you of our future location at 184. South Candler St., Decatur, GA 30030. We think this new house looks pretty great as is (especially since she was built in 1900!), but we're working with an architect, contractor, and a team of amazing folks from Agnes Scott to ensure that this new home feels as welcoming, warm, and inspiring as our current space in Little Five Points.
In addition to working with the College to renovate for accessibility, we're also using the years of feedback we have received from all of you to design this space for maximum comfort, beauty, and connection.
As the scope of this project continues to come into focus, we are excited to share with you a better timeline of events so that you can be a part of this historic move. We have signed a lease to remain in our current building at 1189 Euclid Ave. NE through February, 2018. We will celebrate one more November birthday in Little 5 Points and one last holiday season before moving over to Decatur in late winter/early spring 2018. We are excited for the opportunity to celebrate our current home and our beloved Little 5 Points neighborhood for the rest of this year and to honor this space which has been a gathering ground for so many.

The number one (totally fair!) complaint we have heard for all of our 42 years in Little 5 Points is "I love to visit you but I hate trying to find a parking spot or walk so far to MARTA." We know you will be excited about our off street parking as well as our proximity to the Decatur MARTA station and the #15 Bus line.

Located directly across the street from the main campus of Agnes Scott College, we will continue to serve you as we always have with diverse program offerings and some of the most well-curated bookshelves in town, while also adding a school store component to serve the Agnes Scott College community. The students will benefit from engaging in a historic and vibrant feminist community, and the Charis community will enjoy the continuous influx of new voices, energy, and enthusiasm of Agnes Scott students, faculty, alumnae, and staff.

So many of you have reached out to offer help, support, and well wishes and we are so thrilled that you are excited about your new Charis home. The board and staff are working behind the scenes to ramp up the infrastructure necessary to support a move of this magnitude and we will be reaching out with specific volunteer requests throughout this year as the building project moves into its later stages.

Right now, the absolute best way you can help is to participate in Give OUT Day on Thursday, April 20th. Give OUT Day is a one-day-only annual national contest where our community's giving goes a long way towards helping us reach our goals.
On Give OUT Day, each unique donation that a donor makes to Charis puts us in the running for thousands of dollars in matching prize money! So all you have to do is go right now and schedule your donation to Charis Circle in advance of April 20th (or on April 20 if you like living dangerously!) to help Charis win big!
We love this challenge because it's such a good fit for our community: you don't have to have deep pockets, just a deep willingness to make a quick one time show of love for Charis and tell your friends. The more who join us, the better we'll do. We came in second in two categories last year. This year we are aiming for 1st place! Don't wait, schedule your donation now so you don't have to think about it on the 20th!
This year all of the money from Give OUT Day is going into our building fund to be leveraged for matches by larger community donors. It's important that each of you who can give $10 show up and show out so that we can illustrate our community's power and strength to those who can give $10,000.
