Gratitude, Joys and Sorrows

Thanks to Bi-Fri’s Dave Schwartz and Howard Cone for offering their expertise, tools, labor, mentoring and love for our youth community in helping them transform Room 224 in a more welcoming, cabin-like space! The Bi-Fri team also took on an even larger project, refinishing the exterior doors around the church. Pictured above is a before and after shot of their work on the back door. Magnificent job! Thank you Bi-Fri’s for all you do!

We are sad to share that Jacque Cady recently died of pancreatic cancer. A memorial will be held at First Universalist Church on Clinton Ave. on Saturday, September 2 at 10:30am .

If you have a concern about a member of our congregation, please don't hesitate to contact Rev. Tina at 585-271-9070 x104.

The Brighton Food Cupboard needs your donations. We hear "Oh I keep forgetting" too often when people see the food cart. So put a can or box in the cart so it will be there on Sunday. Cereal, canned milk, juice as well as any of the usual suspects would be welcome.
Other News and Reminders

Who are the Bi-Fri's? They are a caring group of mostly golden agers, who provide volunteer labor and skills for the church. The group had its origins from Roger Coakley, a very energetic and extremely helpful volunteer. Later, the group was formalized by the late Bob Brennan as a helpful, social group that made small repairs around the church. The concept was formally adopted by the Board of Trustees in November of 1995, when the group was officially acknowledged as the Bi-Fri Social Club. In the past 20-odd years, they have worked on many projects, large and small, generally doing small repairs or projects that frequently go unnoticed. Over the years, Bi-Friers have saved the church many thousands of dollars in repairs that would otherwise have been hired out. There is a tool room in the basement that is fairly well equipped, and many times volunteers will bring their own resources when needed.

This is a large church with a number of needs, and we could use more energy and help. Generally we meet the first and third Friday of each month (Bi-Fridays). If you would like to help, or would like more information, please call Dave Schwardt at 585-671-6670. Or, if you have an expertise that could help the maintenance of this church, the Bi-Friers would like to know about it.

Homecoming Services will be Sunday, September 10 at 9:30am and 11:15am .
