FLOOD ASSISTANCE: AN UPDATE
THANK YOU! To all who have responded so generously by donating items to those affected by the flooding. Thank you to Stephanie Dupepe of Catholic Charities and DRE Jewell Bayhi for coordinating, and to everyone who has donated.

If you or a family member is in need, please call the office at 985-626-6977. We may have items here that can assist you.

After delivering our first load of
donated items to a shelter in Hammond, Catholic Charities reports that the following items are most needed:

Diapers
Wipes
Hand sanitizer
Cleaning supplies
Boxed drinks
Packaged snacks

Please drop off at the Parish Center by noon on Wednesday, August 17.

Thank you for your generosity and please continue to keep those affected in your prayers.

Many displaced residents are currently being sheltered in temporary disaster shelters throughout the region. Donations are needed at many of these sheltersto ensure the safety and wellbeing of flood victims. If you have any of these items on hand and live close, please consider dropping these items listed in the image below and staying to volunteer if needed. Please, do not attempt to go anywhere that is still being impacted by high waters, including Central, Denham Springs, or Ascension Parish. First responders need folks to stay out of areas where rescues are still taking place so that they can do their jobs without interference.
We would ask that you CALL AHEAD before going to any of the shelters to drop off items to find out what their current needs are, as that may change over the coming days.

If you are safe and would have to travel far to get to any of the shelters, please stay off the roads and call the Red Cross at 855-489-2528 to see what volunteer opportunities they can connect you to nearby.  We can't stress enough the importance of staying close to home right now if you're able, since first responders need clear streets to continue rescue and evacuation efforts for the foreseeable future.
