spacer Building a foundation... spacer
spacer "Here at Florida Commerce Park, we’re building a foundation in more ways than one:
  • We’re building upon a path of economic growth
  • We’re building upon our values of sustainability
  • We’re building close ties to our surrounding communities
  • We’re helping to build the future of Martin County and Indiantown
Let’s build a foundation that will stand the test of time." That was the theme on Nov. 12 at the official groundbreaking ceremony for Florida Commerce Park, which aims to be a catalyst for business growth along the Martin/Stuart/Indiantown economic corridor. Martin County's Business Development Board, county commissioners, and the regional and Indiantown chambers of commerce, together with Florida Commerce Park executives and top commercial real estate brokers, gathered to celebrate the landmark industrial park's development. The park plans to attract world-class and regional businesses to Indiantown, drawing upon a unique location that offers security, unparalleled connectivity and sustainable power, and a location at a crossroads of commerce in South Florida: the park is directly adjacent to the CSX rail line and transportation arteries, and has easy access to three regionals ports, Miami, Port Everglades and Palm Beach.

spacer Data Centers spacer
spacer Forget the three L's. Focus on "power, connectivity, and redundancy."

Did you know that the power density of a data center exceeds 100x that of a large commercial office building? And data centers built more than seven years ago are generally out of date? That's why Florida Commerce Park offers exceptional opportunity. Situated in a secure, inland and elevated location (40 ft above sea level and 35 miles inland of coastal hazards), the park features significant, uninterrupted sources of clean energy including proximity to Florida Power & Light's plant, which includes the largest solar-thermal power plant in the eastern US. The latter is a one-of-a-kind hybrid facility spanning 500 acres connecting more than 190,000 solar thermal mirrors with an existing natural gas power plant. This translates into exceptional, redundant power for a data center at Florida Commerce Park, and can also help address the "big elephant in the room." That's what Michal Manos, AOL's senior vice president of technologies, calls the green equation within a data center's mechanical loads. Sustainability concerns are increasingly coming into play and it's among many reasons Indiantown was chosen as an ideal location for Florida Commerce Park. The park offers:
  • Uninterrupted sources of clean energy: FP&L nearby power plant and largest solar-thermal power plant in eastern US
  • Natural gas providers and steam for chilled water
  • 100 % fiber network with 3 redundant routes to the NAP of the Americas
  • ITS Fiber Zymmetric gigabit broadband capability with up to 1 Gpbs (1000 Mbps) symmetric speeds — 20 times faster than quickest in South Florida

AOL says sustainability issue is "elephant in the room." Power density of data center is 100x a large office building. Changing user requirements -- and sustainability -- are altering how and where data centers are built and operated.
