Early Detection Saves Lives
Getting your yearly mammo
could save your life.
According to the American Cancer Society, finding breast cancer early and getting state-of-the-art cancer treatment are the most important strategies to prevent deaths from breast cancer. Breast cancer that's found early is easier to treat successfully.

All women should be familiar with how their breasts normally look and feel and should report any changes to a health care provider right away.  In addition, getting regular screening tests is the most reliable way to find breast cancer early.

Screening guidelines for women at average risk for breast cancer:
  • Women between 40 and 44 have the option to start screening with a mammogram every year.
  • Women 45 to 54 should get mammograms every year.
  • Women 55 and older can switch to a mammogram every other year, or they can choose to continue yearly mammograms. Screening should continue as long as a woman is in good health and is expected to live 10 more years or longer.
Those with a family history or other risk factors need to have a discussion with your family healthcare provider to set up a schedule addressing your risks.

Floyd Valley Radiology suggests you schedule your screening in a month that is memorable, whether that is October, your birthday month, etc.  Think pink and schedule your mammogram today by calling (712) 546-3394!
