We Need Your Help!
We are compiling a list of individuals who hold "frequent flyer" status with an airline. We want to let the airlines know that we have many frequent flyers that are leaving our area to use other airports. If you would like to add your name to the list, email your name and the airline program(s) in which you participate to
[email protected].
Just to sweeten the deal, we'll give one of our T-shirts to a random person sending us their info. Thanks to Humboldt Republic for supporting our effort.
Flying Local is Buying Local.
Emily Jacobs, Humboldt County Aviation's Program Coordinator recently penned an article for the Eureka Times-Standard titled, "Flying Local is Buying Local." In the article, Jacobs points out some of the benefits of using our local airport. In addition to encouraging airlines to invest in more service, increased flying also results in more federal spending on airport projects that benefit all of the County's six airports to the tune of many millions of dollars per year. This not only results in better facilities, but in good local jobs.
People are Flying Humboldt!
Speaking of increased service, United Express/SkyWest continues to be encouraged by the strong performance of our local market. As noted before, seats to San Francisco have been increased significantly.
Nevertheless, we remain under our historic highs in seats and, of course, now only have one destination. However, the strong response to the increased capacity over the past year bolsters our argument to the airlines that flying out of the California Redwood Coast Airport is a good investment.
We love using Google Flights to help us research our air travel options. They do a great job of consolidating all of the fare information on the net. What's particularly handy is the calendar tool, that allows you to see the fares over a span of time. Try using it the next time you're booking a flight. You might be pleasantly surprised at the deals you find.
