Flying Lizard Motorsports Scores Podium in Virginia
ALTON, Vir. (April 30, 2018) – Flying Lizard Motorsports earned its 94 th podium on Saturday at Virginia International Raceway at the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of Virginia. Mike Hedlund and the No. 45 Audi R8 LMS finished tenth overall in race two, scoring a second place finish in the GTSA class, Hedlund’s second podium of the 2018 season.

The No. 23 Case-It Racing by Flying Lizard Motorsports Audi R8 LMS GT4 of Adam Merzon and Ryan Eversley came close to a top ten finish in the second race of the weekend, but contact from another car sent the Audi off course. Merzon recovered, ready to fight for the lost positions, but the race finished prematurely under caution before he had the chance.”

“We’re proud to add another podium to the books,” said Program Manager Darren Law. “Each of our drivers made steady improvements over the course of the weekend, and the crew nailed the pit stops. We put in a lot of testing time at Virginia International Raceway, and it paid off for another successful race weekend.”

Next up the Pirelli World Challenge heads to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park May 18-20, where the series returns to the single-driver sprint format. For event and ticket information, visit world-challenge.com.

Driver Quotes
Mike Hedlund | No. 45 Audi R8 LMS GT4
We started off the race strong in the Audi R8 LMS GT4 car. We got through a little bit of carnage in the start. I survived and kept the car clean and let the race play out for a couple laps. Once it spread out, we were able to run a really good pace and almost came up to the fast guys. That set us up for the second stint when a lot of the Am drivers came out. We were able to keep our pace and bring it home.

Adam Merzon | No. 23 Case-it Racing by Flying Lizard Motorsports Audi R8 LMS GT4
VIR was a tough weekend for the Case-It car. Our first race was mostly under caution during my stint so we didn’t really get a lot of racing in. In the second race I ran some of my best laps of the weekend but then got taken out in turn 10 while fighting for a top 10 finish. Thankful for the Flying Lizard crew for bringing a fast race car for us and hopefully Lime Rock will bring some hometown luck for me.

Ryan Eversley | No. 23 Case-it Racing by Flying Lizard Motorsports Audi R8 LMS GT4
These GTS races are crazy! The amount of cars combined with some of the lineups is extremely challenging and unfortunately we didn’t really get the results we probably should’ve. We showed strong pace in race two but Adam got taken out at the end and ruined our chance at a top 10 finish. The Flying Lizard crew has been amazing but it’s hard to showcase that with such short green flag running.
