Focus on Four
January 2 to February 4, 2018
Kristy Gordon "Take Me There"
Vernissage:
Sunday, January 14 from 2-5 pm
Cube kicks off 2018 with a focus on four of
our perennially popular
artists:
Kristy
Gordon,
Eric
Walker,
Russell
Yuristy and
Daphne Odjig (1919 - 2017) have
all have made an indelible mark on the art world, internationally.
Kristy Gordon's roots are in Canada, but she has expanded her studies and her studio practice to New York City to become one of the noteworthy emerging artists of the decade.
The art world was saddened by the passing of Indigenous artist Daphne Odjig in 2017 at the age of 98. She remained a vibrant, engaged and dynamic artist right up to her final days.
The venerable Russell Yuristy - whose work can also be seen at the National Gallery of Canada - also maintains a dedicated creative practice that sees him take pencil or paintbrush in hand every day to
create thoughtfully rendered interpretations of the natural world.
Eric Walker's poetic paintings/assemblages have been commissioned for the new Ottawa Art Gallery. His work from the Canadian Forces Artist Program will appear at the Canadian War Museum in February.
Cube is proud to present new and recent works by each of these fine artists.
