Consortium focuses on convening stakeholders to address needs of the workforce

On November 16, 2018, the Healthcare Consortium met in tandem for the first time with the READY NWI K-12 and College Educator team for a morning of presentations and engagement. The purpose of the meeting was to identify possible collaborative efforts on identifying career pathways and building the student talent pipeline for the healthcare industry.

With breakout sessions, a panel discussion, and a special presentation by the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL) out of Indianapolis, the event drew close to 75 educators and healthcare industry representatives.

Consortium members and READY NWI educators felt the networking and sharing throughout the morning was a valuable part of the event. Members of the Consortium will come together at their next meeting to discuss lessons learned from the event, as they work to identify building ways to collaborate with the educators in the region.

Next Healthcare Consortium meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 14 from 8:30-10:30am at the Valparaiso Health Center of St. Mary Medical Center, located at 3800 St. Mary Drive in Valparaiso (east side of SR 49).

READY NWI is a grassroots organization supporting the unique aspects of community, school, and student, as it commits to regional thinking and acting in order to ensure prosperity by meeting the skill and education needs of employers throughout Northwest Indiana.

Regional healthcare executives meet

On January 17th, five healthcare representatives (CEOs and lead HR executives) from Community Healthcare Systems,Franciscan Alliance, Methodist Hospitals, and Porter Regional met to discuss current management and tracking of clinical placements. The group explored what possible strategies might look like in order to either develop or utilize an established system such as ACEMAPP to track regionally, while providing cost-savings for both educators and hospitals.

The representatives agreed to reconvene on Tuesday, February 27 in order to share the system they currently use to support and manage clinicals and determine the feasibility of establishing a regional system.
